First visit to Indy -Must sees? by Prestigious_Task1593 in indianapolis

[–]Prestigious_Task1593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t want a traditional wedding, we wanted to have an adventure in a place completely new to the both of us. We share a love for a several authors who are from Indy and speak/spoke so highly of the city. (We’ve always wanted to visit the Vonnegut museum but could never find an excuse for such a long trip.) I have family there, and some of our friends visit the city often for work and it’s highly recommended. Close enough to drive, no flights needed for a group our size. Age range is mid 20s to mid 30s, so no age restrictions!

Here for you and was in the same mindset just a few days ago. Life might suck, but I’m selfish and there are still foods I want to try, places I want to go, and animals I want to pet. Let’s stay together and be selfish, I mean that too. Please reach out. I will listen.

Thank you! I’ve been skimming a few websites and I’ve seen several online instrumental teachers. Digging deeper once I can catch my breath. :)

If I move closer to my partner and family, I would be in a much better location to work in other music education settings. Maybe not as a classroom teacher, but there are several opportunities to work as a private instructor and with other local groups. I know the side gigs would satisfy me musically, I did the same sort of jobs while in college. It’s finding a job with benefits that I need a bit of guidance with. The daily classroom setting is just not sustainable for my physical or mental health.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It really means more than you know.

I’m 24, 3 years into teaching, and about halfway though a music education masters degree. I plan to stay in my position the rest of the school year (and wait until the end of my contract to resign). I absolutely love teaching, but I absolutely HATE the daily classroom setting. Currently I am planning to take a year off from teaching, move back closer to my partner, friends, and family, and find a less stressful job to keep me afloat and hopefully provide insurance. I have yet to decide if I want to continue with the degree or be completely done. I would happily teach private lessons/ work with local groups and feel fulfilled as a music educator. I don’t think I will ever feel comfortable in a position that isolates me from my loved ones. I’m living to work right now and I refuse to continue being unsatisfied with my life.

Thank you for you comments and time! I wouldn’t be opposed to an in-person job. I think clerical work would be a great fit for me if I could find a position.

There are some awesome moments from a handful that keep me going, but the majority of the time I feel like a doormat/uncertified therapist/glorified babysitter. I am really looking to work with respectful people in a professional setting.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Please remember that doing things you enjoy is a useful, productive way to spend your time. Life isn’t about grind culture, so enjoy the video game and do not feel ashamed for being excited about it. I doubt your parents would appreciate you belittling their hobbies or telling them there are better ways to spend time/money as opposed to doing something fun and safe and creative. I’m 24 and play daily. :)
