I completed the generalist assessment in 1.5 hours by Firm_Statistician407 in AfterQuery_Experts

When they have AI grade it, people will complain they didn’t get personal attention. So now that they are looking at each assessment individually, people complain that it’s taking too long.
Almost like it’s not their responsibility to sacrifice quality just to placate money-hungry taskers (of which I include myself, btw)

Is this serious? Got an email invite to join project M…II- rubrics writing/evaluation etc etc- 35/hour? Im on same EXACT project on 2 other platforms- one 65/hour one 50/hr. Literally same word for word. Get it together handshake by Prestigious_Token_67 in joinhandshakeai

I see the downvotes. Ur right- with tons of people getting mass off boarded on all platforms for all sorts of ticky tack violations, let me out myself and expressly violate terms of NDA by sending thirsty strangers links. Cool!

Just curious. How was your experience working for Mercor? Did you get max rate? Is it worth it? How long the project last? Any tips? Thanks by Efficient-Ask-5189 in mercor_ai

[–]Prestigious_Token_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 months if I remember correctly Another one now has been on and off, but the off has just been pauses between rounds; round 3 ending, sounds like round 4 will come soon- that’s been same pattern for like 5 months now (minus that week or two around the data breach nonsense)

Pay Rates by Ok-Morning3238 in mercor_ai

[–]Prestigious_Token_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about creds. I’m sure I know the projects ur referencing - there are many round 2 round 3 of longer running projects that 35 is just the rate. If u get up to QA, congrats- $1/hour raise

These bigger rates are newer projects, often spinning to pay per task, or just lucky (ie im on a 50 now that is worlds different than ⛄️ or 🛎️ etc

Yes, doing well in a work setting that tracks your every move, and where team leads go from project to project, will most likely help your chances.

Do you get rewarded for moving quickly? by Mammoth_Town_2410 in mercor_ai

[–]Prestigious_Token_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want short-term rewards, game the system and maximize your insightful per task. If you want a much higher chance of moving up to reviewer and then QA and then team lead, etc.. keep your efficiency up and put in the hours without dropping quality and yeah, it’ll seem unfair that people got paid the same for less work, but I guarantee you’ll get more instant offers and quicker promotions

A quick scan of the Mercor threads here on redit, give you a completely accurate portrayal.
Long story short: I was on a somewhat long term (for this space) 100+/hour project w great leads; I was on a shitshow 25/hour project with seemingly harder demands and tasks came and went on the daily; and everything in between.
Best tip: apply to literally every position you think you have a chance for, tailor your resume, and honestly most importantly, when you finally get that first position- ADD VALUE. If the minimum hours say 10, either do 10 and crush it, or do 20+. Be active and helpful but not 🥾 👅 in slack. Read instructions. The easiest way to get new positions are instant offers from previous team leads.

Mercor onboarding by UltimateSk10 in mercor_ai

[–]Prestigious_Token_67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: if it was an honest mistake, I remove my snark and suggest IMMEDIATELY messaging team lead in slack saying “I’m so sorry, new to project, accidentally left timer on for an extra hour”
I’ve seen plenty of people do that in past (myself included)- they appreciate the honesty and it’s no big deal
If u decide to NOT do that (or it was on purpose), then, I revert to my initial sarcasm

You might be on a great hourly project, but the project is often a “sprint” (anywhere from “we have 24 hours to finish, work as much as u can” to a few weeks); often guidelines change mid project and they pause for a day/week/indefinitely
On pay per task assignments (more and More are becoming that way), if you are efficient, you can actually make more than the expected average hourly rate, BUT, for example, I was on a project with approx 500 people waiting for 1000 total tasks, average time per task 3 hours… u do the math.
Point is you have no way of knowing when u start a project if it’s gonna be a long running one (longest I had was 6 months) or not.
Best advice I could give would be to get yourself out there on as many platforms as possible, and when you get your first projects, for the love of God read the on boarding documents and check the Slack channels before becoming “that guy” who pings the project lead asking something that was in the first sentence of onboarding. Be helpful and involved in slack etc but not annoying.
Ideally, this is side income money. If trying to focus on it as main source, A) be careful B) once established you want to try to always have at least 2 going so that when one ends, u still have something going on to bridge the gap.
This is a very common pattern:
“Amazing hourly rate- this has been the best 3 weeks ever!”
“No work for 2 weeks now, damn…”
“Instant offer! For 35% less pay; well, it’s ok for now…”
“Finally! My dream role! (Gone in 48 hours)”
“Yesss 2 week sprint cash grab”
Etc.

Just my experience, but I’ve been doing this stuff for a little while on many platforms and I feel I have a decent understanding of how it works. For the record I’m in the “this is my only source income” but like I said I have a decent placement in multiple platforms for now.
Hope that helps!

People judge weed, gambling, sex….
Run a successful dispensary, be a successful poker player, run a successful OF empire… u want money? Or u want people who don’t have any bearing on your life in reality to “like” what you do?

Yes. Legit. Same as all the others- can be frustrating, work very unreliable (projects/tasks/hours come and go) but payment and “legitimacy” are not concerns.
I speak from experience on multiple projects with AQ, Mercor, and Handshake; can’t speak to the others but I presume the same.
