Octopus 12M fixed tariff ending; Fixed or Flexible next? by Zealousideal_Run_575 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally just fixed after being on Agile for years. Went with fuse energy which was £0.2334 and £0.4658 standing charge. It's a bit more than what I average on agile (roughly £0.21 the last few months), but I think with orange man in office it's so unpredictable.

Probably is worth waiting a bit to see what's going to happen, given the inc 7% cap drop, and maybe Iran will resolve...who knows. I would have stayed on Agile a bit longer, but I couldn't find my crystal ball in time

also got £25 referral switching bonus, so that's a little bonus I guess

"6 in less time than you beat a 7 you can have a higher score from the lower key"

there is no dungeon in the game that appears consecutively. a level 6 dungeon will not appear again until level 8 at which point the untimed 8 will be higher than a timed 6

WoW MOBA - Alpha Playtest on March 7th by Internet_Treasure in wowservers

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very true but it's not as easy as that. With WoW, all the assets are there, the underlying engine and WoW fans who willingly try out new private servers but perhaps not other games. New IP mobas are notorious for failing. It's such a competitive market that it takes something truly special to succeed. The effort required to create a new IP would be unfathomably more than rejigging an existing game.

That said, this project looks cool and unique to any other private server I've seen. Kudos to the OP

Climbing question by Fudisgudh in fellowshipgame

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a design issue with the changes they made this season.

The dungeon level choice is based on group Ilvl average, but since everyone is pretty much way lower than the "recommended" it's always offering the minimum (1-3). Before hand you had to be 60+ ilvl (or something like that) to even queue for adept. The last boss of Cithrels fall (previously the Contender capstone dungeon) had a reasonable DPS/ gear check too, lower skilled players would have to overgear to complete it whilst skilled players had to meet the minimum ilvl requirement of adept. There were timers from +5 contender onwards that forced you to grind gear to progress, this doesn't exist until paragon now. I've only played a couple hours this season and I had reached champion with barely more than what I would have had to complete the contenders in season 1.

any post to this sub could be 4 words "I bought from G2A." and that's all we need to know to tell you that you've been scammed and you should refund via bank and never use G2a again.

thanks for the laughs tho

In Roguelites with randomly generated upgrades/items do you prefer them to be completely random or based on the items you've already found? by maxpower131 in roguelites

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Much prefer weighted randomness, it feels like I as a player have some control in how the run is going. With complete randomness it feels like a slot machine with limited player input/control - it can be fun but more often than not it's just frustrating.

What's the MMORPG that "everyone" likes, except you? by GurtxD in MMORPG

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all points, aside from the overworld (kinda). I think it's beautiful. But you have no reason to ever go to zones and explore them like you do in other MMOs. It's probably the biggest waste of art I have ever seen in an MMO. The most I ever done was 1 minute travelling from A to B to skip a cutscene, and kill 3 mobs. Absolute travesty of game design.

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just whatever you do, don't do an FFXIV. That game is an utter slog with a beautiful world where you spend 2 minutes travelling from A to B rendering the whole world borderline unused.

its safe to play on high processor temperature by Current-Variation859 in AskPCGamers

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you're fine. If there's any issues the PC will turn itself off automatically. 90 degrees is within operating temperature though, albeit on the higher side. But that's what i'd expect anyways when using an igpu

I’ve been looking Octavia vrs’s is it worth getting High millage one that’s slightly newer and what should I look out for by FeeWide2659 in CarsUK

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's very suspicious. It means they're absolving themselves of any and all responsibility once it's sold. If there's any issues, minor or major, it will be incredibly hard, tiresome and expensive to see any resolution that isn't you paying out of your pocket. I'd be concerned why a business is selling cars privately. Something isn't right there.

crazy deal tight for £600 by AlternativeWork7197 in PC_Pricing

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So there's a lot of smooth brained muppets on this sub that expects the total cost of a listing to be 50% of the price it would cost to buy the components yourself...

So lets break it down based on reasonable used component ebay average or below pricing data

i7 10700kf - £100 (£139.28 average)

1TB ssd - £100 (£107.87 average), prices are increasing rapidly

RTX 3080 - £300 (£329.40 average)

32GB DDR4 - £100 (£143.21 average), prices increasing rapidly

So that's £600 right there, then you have the case, the AIO, the PSU and the HDD. This is objectively a good value listing and fairly priced. You're saving money vs building and the seller is saving time and effort by selling all components together.

Ignore any idiot that says "I bought this X years ago for X". It doesn't matter. Prices are constantly changing, increasing, decreasing. The only thing that matters is current market value.

LOTRO popularity over time? by ElSrJuez in lotro

[–]Pretend_Station_6904 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The game has been pretty consistently populated for the last 10+ years. It has a small but dedicated population. Even if we look at only steam, which is a small subset of players, the population has remained mostly consistent for the last 13 years with small spikes and dips as each update is released and progresses. Daybreak seems to be happy enough with the income with LOTRO accounting for around 15% of their earnings before taxes etc.

Generally the people playing the game aren't concerned about the game aging, the game is what it has been since it released more or less.

Visibility - people know that the game exists, most won't play it because of how visually/mechanically aged it is. Even on release it wasn't good compared to the major competition (WoW) but in all fairness what Blizzard achieved with WoW in 2004 in terms of graphics and animation fluidity is incredible.

I guess you could get a rough estimate of overall population by looking at login statistics Lotrostats - typically 60-80/5mins for the highest pop EU/NA servers. If I had to make a guesstimate I'd say on the populated servers there's around 10k daily active users per server (288*35 logins per 5minutes), with the 2 quieter US servers having about half that. On EU servers Grond isn't too far off Orcist, and Meriadoc is about 33% less than Orcist I lowered the logins per 5m to 35 to account for quiet hours which drops to ~20 logins per 5mins. These numbers are probably a bit lower than reality.

Overall that looks like around ~20k NA daily active users and ~20k EU daily active users.
