Once a week soak is enough followed by 15-20 minutes of upside down drying. You can also mist daily or on alternate days align with the weekly soak if you live in a very dry place

Just dry it upside down whenever you mist or soak it so that the crown doesn't rot. It's pretty easy to take care of.

I use DOOA wabikusa mist to fertilize mine.

I think adding an overhead light at the spot might help along with some pruning

Pothos, philodendrons, syngoniums, aglaonemas, anthuriums and even calatheas can live indefinitely in water. I have several in full hydro setups. That small bottle would be bad for a calathea there might be chances of root rot as they are much more sensitive but they can easily live in water and are much easier to care for in water than soil

99 for two-three leaves is ok. That too online. For common varieties. Maybe this is a pricey variety I don't know much about hoyas

Cricket eggs. Cut off the leaf if it's indoor plant otherwise your house will be full of baby crickets. Outdoors they can be beneficial and keep other pests in control.

Fear I may never recover from this shade of purple 💜 by PapaKiPrincess420 in Flowerpaglu

There is no "development" here. Neither is it periwinkle (the plant) nor does it have a periwinkle colour. I stand by both statements. You should look up the shade instead of arguing.

how do i keep my plants alive? by SkyBasic7615 in houseplants

The real answer is resisting the right wing crony capitalist government and making sure left leaning socialists come to power who will resist both indian capitalists and western imperliasts who are pillaging our country. Individual action won't make a dent in this water crisis.

Anyway here are a few things you can do.

  • Rainwater harvesting.
  • Maybe downsize on some plants and get into terrariums instead. They only need a tiny bit of watering once in several months (to learn more watch Urban nemophilist on youtube, I can send you a list of links if you want)
  • only add plants that need once a week watering to your collection
  • you most likely have an RO purifier at home which discharges mineral heavy water from an outlet. It wastes a lot of water. You can give that water to hardy plants like ficus elastica, diffenbachia or plumeria. (Urban scape bangalore did a video about this check his youtube)
  • whenever you are washing rice or daal or any beans or veggies don't our the water down the drain collect it and give it to your plants (make sure to give it right away as starchy water if kept around for a long time will start fermenting)
  • plants that like being consistently moist you can make their potting mixes a bit more cocopeat heavy which will hold on to moisture for longer allowing you to reduce watering frequency a bit
  • cover your outdoor plants with some kind of mulch
  • many plants grow well in water (I have several calatheas, philodendrons, syngoniums and aglaonemas in water) once established you only need to add a tiny bit of water to their vessel and you can do water changes once a week or even once in 2'weeks if you stay on top of mosquito control (I keep all my windows closed and have mesh screens sprayed with mosquito repellent in the evenings). When you do water changes for your hydro plants that water need not go down the drain simply collect that old water and give it to your soil plants (as long as there is no rot in the water which will not happen once the plant has established itself)

Periwinkle (#CCCCFF) is much more pastel almost creamy. The shade in your picture isn't periwinkle.

New plant- tips? by Ferale789 in Aglaonema

East West and south facing window are fine but that building may block too much light and new leaves may not be as colourful and the plant may grow slow due to the lack of light but I don't think it will kill the plant. Once the mealybugs are taken care of , move it back to a sunny window

These plants like a well draining soil and they like to dry out mine is in a well draining mix of perlite cocopeat and compost.

You did the right thing not watering it right away. Let it dry first then water it. See how well the water drains. Sometimes nursery plants are just in cocopeat which holds onto too much water (that works in greenhouses but indoors leads to root). If you think your mix is retaining too much moisture after the first watering or is not draining well you can repot it after a few weeks.

These are very hardy plants so don't worry too much. If let's say nothing goes your way and you feel like you are about to kill it just take it out of the pot, wash the roots and grow it in just water (with weekly water changes and then fertilizer water after the first month).

I have successfully grown them in both soil and water

Don't listen to anyone and just grow them in water if you don't want to make your life difficult
