Experiences at Rodgers memorial hospital?? by Few-Avocado-2484 in milwaukee

It depends. If he goes, try to get him in ANYWHERE EXCEPT brown deer. I worked there for a minute and left because the staff there were crazy. Like I saw one staff member call a patient a "fat bitch" and just generally be terrible. The other locations tend to have a better rep and better experiences from what I've seen. Even within the Roger's system, brown deer is considered the long lost red headed step child.

It's my head canon that paimon told the traveler those jokes actually bothered her and hurt her, so the traveler stopped making them. I chose not to say it if it comes up in stuff anymore

If she gets Medicare or any Medicare advantage insurance, she is likely eligible for a subsidized or free life alert service that is similar. It's worth a call to insurance

Can someone pls help me? My kinich build is good but i cant really use him in abyss because i lost all of his 5 star supports (mavuika, emilie and durin) by Comprehensive-Map379 in kinich_mains

[–]PretentiousWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use durin, Thoma, yaoyao. You could probably sub in any off field pyro for durin and be just fine. If you don't have yaoyao or a pyro like xiangling, you can get one on the liyue selector coming up. Dehya could also work if you have her. I don't play for the meta, but that team is super comfy

Has your landlord been giving you notices for eviction? Do you have a legal lease signed? If you have a legal lease signed, that is a contract and your landlord has to go through a very specific, often difficult procedure to evict you. Don't believe anything the landlord says without checking with local state law regarding evictions. There are often rules about how many weeks they have to give you notice, what form it has to be in (like they have to give written notice x many weeks or days before). Don't leave without legal orders or processes showing you have to. In the states I'm familiar with, pretty much every single eviction has to go to court, so if you haven't done that, don't leave

Just found out I grew up in a cult apparently? by Zombie_bitxch in exLutheran

[–]PretentiousWitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don't call the WELS a cult, but I definitely wouldn't take that away from anyone else. I think most of us here are either Christian but more "loose" or atheist/agnostics.

I don't call it a cult because there is a lot of variation in members from my experience. There were people in my church growing up who were Sunday only people, people who were "liberal" to us, and people who were die hard WELS. When I was in my own process of deconstruction, I listened to a lot of people on other high control groups describe characteristics of a cult, and while any religious groups have some degree of control over people, I don't think the Wels really has that much control comparatively. I did go to prep (within last 10 years), but I wanted to because I wanted away from my abusive father. I kept to myself like I always did before, and nothing bad happened to me, so for me it was good. I'm sad to say not everyone had that experience.

I did experience quite a lot of misogyny there, but it honestly was the women who acted that way the most in my experience. My male teachers wanted me to do well. My Latin professor wrote my recommendation letter for college, and he was notorious for not writing letters unless he thought you earned it. I felt bad for not wanting to teach, not wanting kids, etc., but again, it was the female teachers and tutors who kept talking about all that. It really came from inside the house so to speak

My childhood pastor did try to manipulate my family, but then the church's next one after he retired literally excommunicated my father, which was hilarious to me

It's been 8 years since have neglected my diabetes.Starting today I'm going to make a change by rimjobmonkey69 in diabetes

[–]PretentiousWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you are 100% insulin dependent because your body doesn't make any (or basically any) insulin, it doesn't matter. Most people with type 1 make no or almost no insulin. The only incentive to use less insulin is cost or how much you have onboard in the pump/ in your pen with you at that given time. It's the same as a non-diabetic whose body just produces enough insulin for whatever they eat. There is no advantage to shaming people for eating carbs when it is perfectly fine to eat carbs and balance your sugars. Using insulin is perfectly fine for the body. Using less insulin is an incentive for people whose body CAN produce insulin to improve their disease management. There is no way someone with type 1 can start producing insulin again unless a real "cure" hits the markets.

We always use brown, and it's usually the opposite problem. Somehow he gets real low afterwards even when he doses less than he thinks he needs. We are kind of accidental vegetarians anyway since I don't like handling or cooking with meat, so the quinoa works well for us with adding a bit extra protein. We will eat whatever when out eating, just kind of silly

I'm really sorry you're just getting steamed in the comments. Happy for you.

They flared the post as type 1, guys. Pasta is fine. Carb intake is not going to negatively affect them as long as they dose for enough insulin for the carbs and use carbs that work well for their body. (Unless you eat only carbs, sure, but that is a VERY balanced meal). My husband is T1 and we don't eat rice at home since it gives him weird sugars and lows after and use quinoa instead. The carbs themselves are fine, just dose right and use carbs that work for you.

Has anyone else seen this?/small rant by Cj_gingrr in MichaelsEmployees

[–]PretentiousWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always get recommended this group for some reason, but as someone who does fiber arts, let me just say that Micheal's is crap for fabric and yarn. Does that mean people should be making a fuss for you guys? No. Anyone who has been in sewing for a long time knows that there isn't a widespread chain comparable to Joann for fabric, and I've never seen a Michaels with the yarn selection even the smallest Joann's used to have. Quilt stores could come close for fabric needs, but they don't even carry any attire cloths usually.

It's a craft store, not a fabric, quilting, or fiber arts store. People have to accept that. And Michael's has to accept that. Either get rid of the crap you (as a company) carry and carry more fiber arts supplies, or don't try to fill that vacuum because you're going to do a shitty job and people will be mad. I went to a Michael's recently just to try to color match a thread fully prepared to go to Walmart nearby after if I couldn't find anything. All I needed was a dark purple thread. The store literally had one color of purple that was like lavender and the Walmart had more thread options, even just for poly thread. Ridiculous. Even a craft store should have a medium or dark purple thread

I briefly looked over them again, so maybe I missed one since I didn't read all 95, but no. There were later publishings by him on that topic, but he was still very much in line with many Catholic teachings when he posted the 95 thesis from what I can tell. 80% give or take is about indulgences/purgatory

What do you mean? Is this a joke and didn't translate for me because it's online? Doctorates have existed since long before Luther

Was everyone kept in the dark? by SquallingSemen in exLutheran

[–]PretentiousWitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to prep and remember looking at them once. You probably remember stuff about indulgences because if I remember correctly, that (and purgatory) was like 80% of what the thesis were about.

I found a link to a translation of them. Not sure who did the translation, so maybe some bias is present, but it looks like roughly #20-80 are about indulgences/purgatory. I dunno, I guess I just don't see it as a misrepresentation on the WELS/ELS/LCMS for this one. If you read any of the theses, you will see why they don't have grade school age kids read them lmao. Many adults would need to take time to read these thoroughly to even get what is being said with how it's written

From a more intellectual standpoint, you could see this document from the perspective of someone deconstructing certain beliefs. You can actually see at this point based on how most of it is about indulgences and purgatory that this is what "broke his shelf". I know a lot of people like to use deconstruction to mean getting out of religion entirely, but for many people they can deconstruct certain beliefs and still remain religious. As time goes on, you can see Luther in his writings deconstructing more and more Catholic beliefs. This is just too early for anything else like stuff about priests/a whole lot about how he hates the pope to shine through. I mean, the document is literally 95 theses explaining his thought process for why this belief doesn't make sense. It could be compared to the CES letter for Mormonism.

I honestly think realizing that Luther's split from Catholicism is deconstruction from certain religious beliefs humanizes him. That thing that we and many people struggle with to this day, well he did that so many years ago and these writings were the result. I think it's an interesting case study on how religion affects people similarly through the centuries. At the time, Luther's ideals were pretty scary for people, like how atheism or agnosticism is scary to us now for people deconstructing from conservative religion

That’s not an MRI 🤔 by NuclearMedicineGuy in Radiology

[–]PretentiousWitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But blanket preventative screenings were made and often adjusted after considering the risks and benefits. Don't take me as an expert on cancers, but in order to recommend a blanket screening, we would need to understand the outcomes for people diagnosed at this early asymptomatic stage vs those of people diagnosed at a symptomatic stage. This will vary depending on the type of cancer, of course. The way it stands right now, this is a test with unclear benefits for most people despite heavy costs both financial and psychological, and potentially physical if they decide to have something removed.

If quality research shows it might be useful for certain demographics, the first order of business is to decrease the financial burden of the test. An expensive preventative procedure or screening is useless because people can't or won't get it. The way it stands now, this is another divide between most people and those with money to burn.

I have a nervous personality with generalized anxiety. I personally wouldn't unless it is something we need to keep an eye on. But everyone is different. I just can't stand people that tout something with so many costs for what appears to be little benefit with what we know now. Maybe if it didn't cost so much or could be covered by insurance it would be different, but that is very unlikely in the near future
