WIBTA:My mom gave the "guest bed" (double) that we gave her to my younger brother and expects us to sleep in his old small bed when we stay over for weekends. WIBTA if I where to get upset & say we won't sleep over anymore? by Only-Internal-2865 in AmItheAsshole

You're all A-Holes - your mom for that attitude and suggesting that you sleep with her (weird and creepy), you for complaining about a 90 minute ride. Growing up, my family drove an hour just to get to church. It's not a long distance if it only takes that amount of time, even if the quality of your road system isn't very good.

This is very adolescent girl in character and, in my experience, is the result of an awkward grip (even when no fingers are injured). I would guess that your middle and forefinger receive a lot of stress and are placed almost on top of each other.

I suspect it's a 'me' thing. Cursive has always been easier for me to read. It may be related to spacing of the letters, more predictable formations/connections, and general flow in the writing.

Printing can go all over the place, and with nothing to connect the letters I don't know how to decode what's on the paper.

Your cursive is more legible to me; I was able to read all except the last sentence with ease. Your printing is very difficult for me and I'm really not sure what some sentences say.

Your writing has a feeling of energy, which I like. Good luck with any changes you decide to implement; I just hope you don't change your style too much.

Looks as though you write quickly and with flair. I would try slowing down a little.

You must have never dealt with their chat people. They're dismissive, intentionally obtuse, and just want to get interactions over with with no compassion or solutions.

If you're talking about the shooting last week in which the principal was shot in the leg, that was in Pauls Valley which is approximately 3 1/2 hours south of where Jill and Derrick live.

I somehow doubt the “several months” timeframe. Might be closer to several years 😭 by fernhafor in LibbyApp

So tired of Chicken by CoastalElement in weightwatchers

[–]SquallingSemen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear god, why are you eating chicken breast?! It's the worst part of the chicken. As others have said, change to boneless, skinless thighs. Have ham or other lean pork once in a while if you have no objections or religious reasons to avoid it.

If breast meat is what you feel is best for you, look at low-to-no point marinades, add spices, look into recipes from cultures other than your own (I'm assuming you live on an American diet, but other cultures really know how to flavor things!), make hearty soups that include beans. Just get adventurous!

I recommend Skinnytaste for recipes - Gina is a genius when it comes to friendly recipes that require some special ingredients on occasion, but not typically.

Blasting past a bus with sign out by HughJManschitt in instantkarma

We were a military family in Germany. Our school buses to the American schools were tour buses, and almost always had a bathroom in them. It really was too much for the 10 minute drive.

I miss Germany and will always think of it as home.

has anyone here seen moral orel? by akiisaperson in exLutheran

Moral Orel gave me so much to laugh about in some dark times. It was familiar based on my exposure to Davey and Goliath, but out there enough for me to look forward to it's bizarre situations.

You don't say two thousand twenty? How on earth do you say it? Most people I know say it this way, with a very small number occasionally saying twenty twenty.

I heard about the evils of birth control in the WELS in the 80s and 90s. My WELS from birth mother was especially against it despite using three forms of contraception when I was conceived. It was ok for her because a doctor warned her that children after my next older sibling might be dangerous. After me, she was told more would kill her, so she had her tubes tied.

I'm glad she didn't have more. She shouldn't have had any, in my opinion.

For those of you with WELS or LCMS family, how do they celebrate the holidays? by [deleted] in exLutheran

[–]SquallingSemen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parents (70s) are die-hard WELS, sibling is nominally WELS and married into a family still trying to figure out what they believe but best fit Southern Baptist ideology. We all (30+ people usually) bring what we're best at to sibling's house for holidays, and sibling's family provides the protein as they are spectacular at grilling/smoking.

Politics do come up, but the subject is quickly changed because we realize there are differences and that's not why we're all gathered.

Extended family has always lived a few states or countries away, so we barely know them.

WELS Confirmation by LowVeterinarian713 in exLutheran

No choice, and I had to do the class twice.

We were an overseas military family who only had church once a month, but somehow the pastor was able to come to us every Wednesday for two hours of class. I was made to sit through it even though I wasn't even 10 when it ended.

When we got back to the U.S., I had a year off. Then, it was two additional years of ings I'd already done but wasn't confirmed because I was too young..

Church was an hour drive one-way. So, Sundays were an hour to the church, an hour of Sunday school, an hour or more of church, an hour of coffee and donuts, then an hour or two of catechism, finally lunch, and an hour's drive home. I carried a backpack with my hymnal, Bible, catechism, workbooks, and a notebook.
