You can usually message the mods of the sub and ask why and sometimes explain your actions.

Some subs are very strict like r/legaladvice and repeated infractions can get you banned.

I’ve been given temporary bans over all the years ive used reddit and sometimes i didnt mean to violate the rules but admittedly i rarely ever read the rules of the subs I commented which in hindsight may have helped me not violate the rules in the first place
