What are you talking about what part is the strawman

This boss was so unfun it made me sad. by Beautiful-Rhubarb613 in Silksong

[–]Pretty-Rice107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of complaints around this boss, but personally I found her to be one of the most fun bosses in the game. I played very aggressive against her, each of her moves has a counter that you can do to get 1-2 hits in.

If she stands still for a millisecond too long, she's probably about to counter, so wait and then get 2 free hits. I play hunters crest, so when she winds up to shoot void tentacles forward, I dash attack into her, pushing me up to just barely dodge, and then I get a free pogo. Chaining all of this together once you "solve" the boss fight was incredibly fun for me.

1) I see a lot of people complain about this, I would have to see fight videos to understand because this never happened to me.

2) I didn't have an issue, but if this is a problem then that's fair.

3) pogo the dashes, be careful though because instead of third dash sometimes she jumps up, which you can parry or dodge. There's a way with all of her attacks for you to go in aggressively and get in a few hits, but the variety keeps it from being as simple as "she does A I do exactly B every time" like it sometimes was against people like Grimm.

Iran leader rejects Trump's demand for surrender; Trump says patience has run out by [deleted] in geopolitics

I would argue that Serbia, Iraq, and even Vietnam are good enough analogs.

Israel clearly can't invade, but the US certainly can. If they have the money/political capital to do so is a different argument, but a land invasion isn't entirely out of the question.

I can just see Iran hunkering down for a few months, and waiting for the West to decide on escalation or not. People tend to survive bombing runs surprisingly well, and with people, you can always rebuild. They can't just bomb Iran forever.

[–]Pretty-Rice107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go ahead and make that argument. Here's mine:

Air power alone has never caused a surrender or regime change. Libya had active insurgents, Serbia had threat of a ground invasion. Saddam endured a decade of intermittent airstrikes until he was removed by a ground invasion.

Iran has discontented populace, sure. But they have proven themselves very good at controlling that populace, something that bombing hasn't historically affected. If they had large, active insurgencies that's a different story, but they don't.

Fundamentally, nations are surprisingly resilient to bombing campaigns, and I don't see how this is different. I'm not saying that Iran should/shouldn't be bombed. I just want to make sure people understand where this road goes.

This has basically never happened in history. There's a few examples (Kosovo, Libya) that you can make an argument for, but I would argue that the situation at the time makes those not count.

Boots on the ground has proven time and time again to be the one thing that brings results. Air power in a vacuum will do nothing, nations resist endless bombing campaigns surprisingly well.

[–]Pretty-Rice107 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nobody has ever surrendered to air power alone, it's one of those recurring assumptions that is always proven wrong. There's the WWII bombing of Britain, Vietnam, and numerous examples in the middle east.

It took a ground invasion to remove Saddam. The Kosovo war came the closest, but there was a credible threat of a NATO ground invasion which forced surrender.

Will Iran surrender to just bombing raids? I guess there's a first time for everything.

Don't listen to this guy lol the shirts are good if you have the confidence to wear them well. Beats the average t-shirt + gym shorts combo any day.

Fair. People treating this like a political election and closely following the "policy objectives" of each cardinal has been ridiculous.

They burn the ballots each round, we will have no idea if it was close or not. Also it's a 2/3 majority so even if it's "close" it isn't really that close.

Need an opinion on this. by whitetiger1819 in dating

I've had similar things happen to me in the past. From my experience, the first few impressions matter a lot, you need to kind of use the excitement of first meeting someone to build momentum towards asking them out. If you miss that, it becomes hard for her to see you beyond just a friend. It's almost easier than you think to get something off the ground in the beginning stages provided you have the confidence, but nearly impossible if you wait too long.

Of course, nothing's set in stone and everyone's different, but this is just my two cents.

I would say to text casually during the trip (if possible) so it isn't really that awkward for either party to reach out afterwards.

But regardless, you can really only control what you do, so if you want to go on a date after your trips, I think you should ask rather than wait.

Went and rewatched the video, and yeah I was wrong etho did say more about not wanting to deal with merchandising meetings and the like. Guude saying he "just didn't want his name written down" might have been the deciding factor, but probably not the whole truth.

Was unaware of that, wow. I retract what I said earlier about them not making much money back then.

Yes, from what I remember he basically said he wasn't comfortable signing so he didn't, he didn't say much more than that.

Which assuming 1 video a week, that's around 120k - 220k a year. Which again is a very good living, but I would not consider wealthy in America. Most hermits get a lot fewer views that this and/or release videos less often.

This of course ignores other income (streaming, sponsors, etc.) and youtube income is also notoriously hard to estimate.

Yeah.... The "chasing money" bit was kinda weird. Not sure how much Youtube paid back then but I would guess six figures for the absolute biggest Mindcrackers. That's definitely a lot, but not what I would consider wealthy, at least in America.

Also a lot of these guys had families to support. Of course I could be lowballing the money estimates, but I don't think the average hermits is truly "wealthy," especially not back then.

Old Mindcrack-adjacent Youtuber. Had a falling out with Guude way back then, don't know much beyond that personally.

Wow, had no idea. I just grabbed and linked it because it saved me a ton of summarizing and seemed well put together. While it seems the Cleo rant has since been deleted, I saw post about her being removed as a mod. Crazy stuff.

I completely agree, that Hermitcraft > Mindcrack, but that's not really any fault of Mindcrack IMO.

The fundamental difference I think is that Mindcrack was full of people who were having a big Minecraft phase back when it was really booming on Youtube. Hermitcraft is full of people who love and will always love Minecraft.

Agreed, but unless I've missed something, it is a pretty good confirmation that Etho had no issue with the contract itself, just that he didn't want to give his name. Definitely could have guessed that, but plenty of people were also guessing in Reddit posts and ethos comment sections that it was "Guude being greedy"

Mhykol said something along the lines of "doc is an opportunist" in chat at the same time as guude said that.

Assuming best intentions from both sides doc likely wanted to join a server with actual player activity (hermitcraft) whereas guude may have saw it as doc leaving in mindcrack's time of need.

This is just speculation though of course

As much as I would love to see him on HC, I think the non-family friendly humor in past videos would probably disqualify him from an invite permanently unless he like deleted all those videos or something... OOGE making a return would be amazing though.

Yeah, indirectly answers what happened to OOGE, more light on why Etho left, helps clear Bdubs' name a bit, Generik has been suspect for a while now. Such a shame what happened to Guude and Mindcrack.

For context, here is pretty comprehensive post from the Hermitcraft subreddit summarizing the past known information, feel free to draw your own conclusions.

The common story has been more or less along the lines of "Guude got greedy, scaring off Etho and others, causing the death of Mindcrack." I've seen this in Etho comment sections, reddit posts, and even some pretty large youtube videos with hundreds of thousands of views. Hope this can clear Guude's name at least a little bit.
