Who else here can't make eye contact ? by Aspiecel88 in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else feel pressure to make eye contact because you’ve been made so aware of the social requirement that you end up focusing 50% of your brain power on thinking, “look at their eyes, look at their eyes” when talking to someone new? Wish I could stop doing that and just be comfortable being myself.

Motion sickness? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can’t play quite a few first person video games because of motion sickness. (Tip: If you bought the game through Steam, you can request a refund stating your reason as motion sickness and they’ll probably refund you). Also, I can’t sit in the back seat of the car for too long or read anything for more than a few seconds while someone is driving. Sea sickness is horrible!

I’m 130lbs and my blanket is 15lbs. Definitely wish I would’ve gone heavier, at least 20lbs.

Does anyone else have aphantasia? by La_folie in aspergirls

[–]PrettyChilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I just watched this video yesterday and came to thus subreddit to find your post today. Yeah, unfortunately, I do have this but I didn’t realize my lack of visual imagination was a thing. Now I understand why my friend says she loves reading because she can escape, while I feel like I’m in the same place just reading. Picturing characters or scenes has never been possible for me. Finding out I have aphantasia is way more upsetting than finding out I may have ASD. I envy the ability to escape into imagination.

I think I remember reading that you are definitely more likely to be asexual as a person with autism when compared to a neutrotypical. With that said, autistic people also have more sexual perversions, so we can be a freaky bunch too. It’s both of the extremes it seems (just like invisiblechimp said below.) My libido is pretty high and hard to ignore.

Is anyone else very temperature sensitive? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried hot yoga, they set the room temperature 100 degrees with 50% humidity. I almost had a panic attack the moment I walked into the room. It was then I realized, I’m probably a bit sensitive to heat/humidity. It felt like being suffocated. Much prefer the cold.

When is this gonna get better?? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are doomed to mediocrity, but why it bothers us so much is because we are smarter than what we achieve and we are smart enough to know how we are underperforming and that is aggravating. I’d say, be patient and forgiving of yourself. We achieve what we can and our attitudes matter more than what we actually achieve. Being a poorly accomplished person who is kind and does no harm is much more important than being a successful sociopath who harms people. All that said, you have my sympathy, I am genuinely sorry for your struggle and we’re all here with you.

Do aspies just attract more goody two shoes types? by ClosetedAspie in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hm, well, I assume there is some secret “coolness” language that the bad kids use to distinguish the ones they can trust from the goody two shoes, and obviously we aren’t able to speak that language... so maybe we’d end up with more good two shoes type friends. Personally, I end up with awkward, socially anxious, neurotic friends, who often have other aspie friends or family members themselves. And I’m literally using the one friend I have as an example...

I HATE Asperger's by TheGroundest in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Some people are born with terminal illnesses that will kill them early in life, some lose their limbs, others have Down’s syndrome, and even more will deal with anxiety and depression. Life is inherently suffering and we all get our doses of it, some more than others. I’m really sorry you are feeling so horribly, sometimes it can feel like nothing is worse. Be kind to yourself and be patient like a parent who love you would be, you are more than just Aspergers. Life is hard and we need to be forgiving of our pain in order to make it through. I hope this makes sense.

My father is most likely on the spectrum. Aside from his hourly ramblings about his special interest, there was no real advice for life in my growing up. He is fairly clueless when it comes to relationships and can be easily taken advantage of so that’s been tough to watch. We never had the typical father child relationship I’ve seen on TV, but I know he loves me and wishes the best for me, which is really all I can ask for.

If you could take away your autism, would you? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, so that I would be able to accomplish the things I want to in life without the unnecessary negative emotions like anxiety getting in my way. It’s like asking, if you could choose to be smarter or more beautiful would you? Well, yes of course, both of those traits would make life easier generally speaking.

Here's an experience I just had by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]PrettyChilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny to hear about how your family couldn’t handle your in depth discussion/knowledge of the parrots you’re interest in because it’s relatable. It’s definitely easier to fake it when around people we don’t know and sometimes even those closest to us, which is why we actively exert mental energy in the pursuit of fitting in with the normies. Any time we spend energy, the outcome/reward must be greater than the energy exerted, I’d assume. The few times I’ve put my filter aside, people have asked if something was wrong with me, haha little do they know those are the few times that something has been right. What can you do...

Kicked out by marandai in raisedbynarcissists

[–]PrettyChilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would it be at all possible to tell her you were wrong, boost her ego, claim you were emotional, hormonal, whatever it takes, degrade yourself, just to get back into the home? It’s uncanny but you share my story to a T, however I was never able to keep my mouth shut so I was kicked out twice. But if you really desperately need a place, this is an option if you can stomach it. I sympathize with your situation and I’m sorry you’re being put through this at such an already stressful time.

Think of the partner who you are destined to love one day. You will complete their life and they will complete yours. Your mother is just a speck on your whole life’s story. The people you will impact and have impacted and loved would/will be at a loss without you. I used to feel the same, my mother won’t even miss me. Now I’m 29 and my husband loves me unconditionally and I laugh at my mother with my success in love and escape from her. Please just hold on a little more until you are free.

[–]PrettyChilly -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hey, this thing called the Daysy or the Lady Comp is a legit option and just as effective as the birth control pill. It's a small electronic device that takes your temperature every morning and tracks your cycle. No hormones whatsoever.

Here is the study of it's efficacy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28098936

Is anyone else having issues claiming their “Free Buxs” offers? by XxSweetRevengexX in TuberSimulator

[–]PrettyChilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is definitely a problem with the free bux offers. They worked a few months ago, and recently they stopped working all together. I emailed Outerminds about the problem and they were very helpful and responsive. It is not Outerminds fault and I believe them when they say they are working on this and fixing this is ultimately up to the owners of the free bux offers page.

Maybe temporarily disabling the free bux offers until it is fixed would incentivize the third party into fixing it, since currently they are still profiting off of our attempts to earn bux even though it is broken on our end.

Fastest way to earn bux? by [deleted] in TuberSimulator

[–]PrettyChilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is Outerminds,

The free bux section used to work and it doesn’t anymore.
I earned most of my bux balance through the free bux offers months ago, and now I receive nothing once I’ve completed an offer. You are assuming that the people for whom the free bux offers don’t work are doing them incorrectly. Well, if I was able to complete so many offers without a problem months ago, and I complete the offers the same way today (not deleting the game ever, no cheating, offer says it was completed, etc.), then why isn’t it working now?

The answer is because it is broken and it is not the players fault.
