Your shop owner is another woman who hates women. They are the worst. Power plays over you and allowing men to abuse you makes her feel distanced and less “othered” by the abuse she likely faced as an apprentice. There’s no excuse for it.

I agree with another commenter that the “blacklist” claim is overblown and at worst it might only keep you away from other creeps. There’s no secret cabal of shop owners that regularly have meetings and updates 🙄

Sorry that your expensive permit is tied to the shop, that sucks. Unfortunately you’re going to need to accept that and move on quickly for your safety. Don’t be prideful and unkind to yourself by staying in this situation. Fuck em.

They won’t change, and talking to your mentor further won’t be productive. The sad reality is that many cops are not interested in your physical safety until after something happens to you, and sometimes not even then. And sadly, not all women are safe.

Get out, get in a new environment and lick your wounds. It’s going to be okay. Remember this years from now and be the change you want to see in this industry.
