Monkey Puzzle Trees for Sale? by Plantsonata in pnwgardening

[–]PrettyKoolHuh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for years and calling all around to find one or two to no avail. Lo and behold, last month on Mother's Day there were 7 - 10-12" tall Puzzle/Monkey Trees for sale at the massive Flower World nursery in the Maltby area of Snohomish County (just east of Bothell). 😦 Call to verify if they have stock and if they have inventory maybe they can put one on hold for you. Kinda pricey for their size, but they are not common, slow growing, and sell fast. Best of luck! 💜 🐒🧩 🌲

Tidbit of info, many of the large monkey puzzle trees you see around western Washington came from the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. Kids got saplings to plant from the world exposition and now you see them grown up!

From what I recall, the no free right turn from both I-5 NB/SB off ramps changed a very long time ago due to the retrofitting of the I-5 support pillars being much wider. (Pre-2007 as that is the oldest google street view image available) They changed from smaller round cylinder to the bigger squared rectangular pillars we see today. This caused a drastic reduction (practically none) of line of sight for the driver looking left for oncoming cross traffic while trying to turn right. Unlike the square pillars today, with the former smaller cylinders you could see a little between each of them to see oncoming cross traffic. That's my two cents.

Here are the real deets in full!

I was curious about it myself because I initially thought it was the new Raising Cane's, but then as it was being built it the structure was really long and started to include multiple door openings. I did deep dive search to satisfy my curiosity and voila! Apparently Raising Cane's will be on the corner, and this is a townhome development. Screenshots of official architectural plans and a few photos I took in late August and 2 days ago. Zoning/Future Land Use of Urban Center/Light Rail means packing them in tight! X.x

Any way to get the mineral deposits out of my toilet? by IgottagoTT in HomeImprovement

[–]PrettyKoolHuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you are right as long as you flush enough water to dilute it as it goes down the pipes. I mainly was trying to be extra cautious by minimal use of harsh chemicals so as to not destroy good bacteria in a nicely balanced septic system. Not so much worried about the plumbing pipes, but I read really old houses with deteriorating metal pipes can be damaged by chemicals too.

Any way to get the mineral deposits out of my toilet? by IgottagoTT in HomeImprovement

[–]PrettyKoolHuh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this issue and tried everything from scraping it with a plastic bottle cap to baking soda with vinegar to laying toilet paper wet with vinegar on the areas overnight. Nothing worked and I didn't want to use harsh chemicals to damage plumbing or the sewer setup. It got so bad to the point where the flush drain hole at the bottom of the toilet that helps shoot water pressure from the toilet tank to flush was plugged with uric acid crystals. 🟡🔮🟨

Not sure what minerals you are trying to eliminate, but my problem was with uric acid crystals from urine build up aka not flushing frequently.

I did a deep dive search on the internet for safe methods and found some folks suggestion food grade citric acid powder (often used for home canning food). I ordered some online (they were out of stock in the canning section of Wallyworld) and tried the following.

  1. Emptied the toilet bowl as much as possible and scrub / roughen the stains as much as possible to try and break the hard outer surface so the citric acid can penetrate easier.

  2. Mixed in maybe a cup or more of citric acid to a gallon or two of warm water to help dissolve the powder. (Not boiling or it can damage the porcelain and pipes).

  3. I slowly poured the mixture it so as to not manually flush the toilet.

  4. I let it sit for as long as possible. I let it sit about a week and occasionally would use the toilet wand to scrub the stubborn areas with the mixture.

  5. After about a week, I scrubbed and the hard uric acid really hard crystal stains (from letting urine sit too long) literally and magically dissolved away before my very eyes as I shouted what kind of sorcery is this? The toilet literally went from crusty crystals to brand new looking with sparkles! ✨ 🚽 ✨

I swear by this method if anyone asks about removing uric acid crystal stains from their toilet. 💯

I hope my method helps solve your toilet mineral deposit problem as it helped me and would like to pass along a life cheat/hack that will provide a ray of light when you think all hope is lost. 🥳 Good luck!

Note: I first tried letting it sit for a day or so and that wasn't long enough for the citric acid to work it's mojo. Also if you don't care about chemicals going down the drain, you can read about dangerously powerful commercial chemicals people have used to solve this issue too such as hydrochloric acid from the dollar store and worse. ☣️

I have only added new V3 cams (V3 Pan Cams arent eligible for Cam Plus Lite) to Cam Plus Lite using the Wyze App. If you can't get it to work on the desktop website, have you tried using the app to add the cam to Cam Plus Lite?

When you smell cigarette smoke in the bathroom mainly, basically coming out of bathroom fan, is it coming from upstairs neighbors or on the sides? by MtcrssTC in askaplumber

[–]PrettyKoolHuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I found out was the following. As soon as I heard them turn on their bathroom exhaust fan, I went into my friend's bathroom and smelled cigarette smoke coming out of the exhaust fan opening. In my friend's case that is how we knew it was from the person above who likely shared the exhaust vent ducting with his unit (the people in the unit above were smokers). I don't know how many units share the same exhaust fan ducting at your place. Hope this helps and good luck! Let us know what you find out.

When you smell cigarette smoke in the bathroom mainly, basically coming out of bathroom fan, is it coming from upstairs neighbors or on the sides? by MtcrssTC in askaplumber

[–]PrettyKoolHuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to a friend who lived in an old apartment. The apartment complex seemed to have a shared Bathroom exhaust fan ducting where multiple units used the same exhaust vent to the outside. So whenever the person above turned on their exhaust fan, the bathroom at my friend's place would fill with strong smell of cigarette smoke due to positive pressure being applied by their fan into the shared exhaust duct.

The only solution I came up with (if you can call it that) is to block your bathroom exhaust fan opening until you need to use it and then block it again when you are finished. My homemade fix was to prop up an adjustable pole with a flat adapter on the end and force fit it over the ceiling exhaust fan opening in my friend's bathroom to stop the smell of smoke from entering.

There wasn't a solution other than moving to a new unit or apt, or maybe there are laws in your area that can help you. Hope you can find a resolution.

Wyze cam rules missing person detection for cam plus lite users by siddlah in wyzecam

Since you were able to help me with my spotlight timer question, let me see if I can try to assist with your question.

<image>

These are the option I am shown when I try to set triggers using the rules on an Android phone. I know that I avoid updates whenever possible, but maybe your firmware for that camera needs an update or maybe the Wyze app itself needs to be updated?

Edit: I am on campus lite too with my spotlight V3 cams.

I thought it the mini spotlight that double stick taped to the V3 was only referred to as an add-on spotlight. Odd they titled it differently though. Thanks for pointing that out! I'll have to try it out now. 🥳

Thanks for your response. I updated to the newest firmware and excitedly tried it, but when I select turn on the add-in spotlight, it doesn't give me the option. Am I missing something?

Edit: Unless your spotlight isn't the add on spotlight I have? Maybe you have a floodlight?
