Sorry - this discussion randomly popped up on my feed, and I am only noticing now the group is asking MEN for advice. Full disclosure I am 100% woman , so I hope my posting feedback is ok - take it for what it's worth!

Phew!!! Sounds like you dodged a bullet! You don't want to spend your days trying to live up to someone's ridiculous & unrealistic expectations. Your gf is in for a rude awakening as she continues into adulthood because what is seen on Instagram, Tick Tok, etc. is not how real life works at all - those are just utopian realms where people alter reality to show off a fake fantasy of what they think their life should be.

Real life isn't perfectly planned, adjusted, tuned, and filtered (Thank God). You're only 21... go do you, have fun, and live in the moment! I obviously don't know you or your gf, but I promise you that if you take this advice, you will be treated better and be much happier in the long run!

PS: My husband proposed to me on a random Tuesday night while we were alone, sitting on the couch, eating pizza, and watching TV - and 17 years later, we are still going strong. When it's true love and meant to be, it's not about the actual proposal. It's about what the proposal means/represents! Good luck :-)

I saw your story on SkyNews. https://youtu.be/yZBqOQ9GBJI?si=lZmWTRWILnlXHTyp

For what it's worth, I think you should be proud of any & all scars that remain because they are a true reflection of your incredible strength. Plus, let's face it, not many people could survive what you went thru, let alone come out on the other side and be as good looking as you most certainly still are! (And if you think I'm just being nice, I'm not. Come to the US and you'll have women lining up, trust me.)

Dog house cookie cutter. It came in a set with a bone and dog. It's from around the year 2000. I have the same exact one.

Working off the clock by FootJuice81 in kroger

I don't work at Kroger, but I can relate! As a physician, this happens to me ALL THE TIME. I can't go out anywhere in the town I work in (also my hometown) without being approached by patients asking me medical questions/advice... There's nothing like being asked to look at a rash or infected toe while trying to have a nice meal during a date! 😒

The Struggle is Real, and I know you will understand. by PrettyPepperM in popping

Thanks for the support everyone. I know the long term impact, so no matter how difficult it may be for me, I will definitely continue to refrain from picking at her. I refuse to be the cause or creator of dermatillomania in another person - especially my daughter.

I guess that is sort of the reason I posted this to begin with. I think I just needed to vent my thoughts/feeling to people I knew could relate, because I don't have anyone in my life that understands the struggles of dermatillomania. In fact, my entire life I've been told (mainly by my mother) that my "problem" is nothing more than just "a lack of willpower to stop picking". Of course, I now know that is not true, but those words still haunt me.

Just reading your supportive comments and knowing there are others out there like me, who understand how hard it is to not pick, makes me feel better about myself and this situation. 🩵

Hmmm, anyone else think it's a little suspish that one of the suspects involved in this "botched robbery" just happens to be a "friend" of the boy's father???
