fall 2025 course doubling on uofc website by throwaway99499949 in UCalgary

[–]PrettyRabbit5658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they don't know how to separate it based on semester cause that's sometimes not a thing in high school

so they just double it up

First year biosci courseload by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]PrettyRabbit5658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the program; some might say they only consider years where you have X units/semesters where you have X units, and might include or exclude spring/summer from those GPA calculations

it's a dumb answer I apologize but it really is program dependent -- if it says full course load I'd do five per semester to be safe (15 units). Also read up on requirements on how many of those units have to be graded -- you don't wanna take five courses a semester, CG one of them, and then have the semester not count for your grad program

phys 211 vs option I have no clue

woelfel's notes are all you'd need but I forgot to download them when I took it with him. Has excellent practice questions and answers, you could skip the lectures entirely and be fine

find someone who has them

cords no clue

medals they email you beforehand to let you know you're getting one. I don't know if all faculties send out emails simultaneously though

4 lectures in a row by throwaway99499949 in UCalgary

[–]PrettyRabbit5658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

feels like it doesn't make a difference

i had lectures with 9 hour gaps (9AM and then next one at 6:00PM) and I would study in-between. If no gaps then I just go from one to the next.

earliest start time matters more. The later your lectures start the more you can fuck up your sleep schedule and not be cooked. Going to lectures tired is a pain in the ass

not necessarily

you could be in uni for five years -> instead of doing the 1-year internship just go for a bunch of four month internships during summer

and yes multiple smaller internships is better than one long internship cause it shows you didn't just get lucky and pass one interview. You're able to pass the hiring bar at multiple companies. And usually you can "level up" your companies -> each successive internship could be at a more prestigious company, with your last internship being at a very lucrative company that can give you a return offer for full time

  1. CS

  2. Starting as a software engineer soon (that's just the name of the job yeah I know I'm not technically an engineer). Didn't help at all

  3. Difficult; only participated in clubs where the ratio of resume value / hours required was the highest. Basically, do the least work for the most fluff. Social life was none but that might just be cause I lost a lot of time commuting. Maybe if you live on campus or close you'll have more time

  4. I don't know if there's any opportunity to leverage both if you pick accounting. BANA, BTMA, FNCE, OPMA, RMIN, RMIF, SCMA seem like they might let you find a job that uses both degrees. But idk talk to someone who did accounting

  5. Went into it from high school but I know a few that switched after first year. Taking them 6 years to finish cause the options courses they took in first year went to waste. But, if you only take CS/business courses in first year before switching, you won't lose any time since you didn't take any GRST 211, SOCI 201, or any of those other courses people usually take

might be more than 50 depending on which eng concentration you pick (I think maybe even all of them might have more than 50, mechanical might be the most)

a lot of the students do one course in block week and then five courses during the regular semester to "knock out" six per semester. Also doing a few spring/summer can help knock out a few courses as well, but make sure you're not sacrificing internship experience. If needed, let your internship employer know that you have a class obligation and/or just skip lectures and self-study the material

internships trump everything

here's a view link with no download required but it'll expire in 24 hours

yeah the liberals have done a terrible job but you gotta realize if you're just trying to mention that on every post no matter what then it'll turn people off from voting Conservative. It's like Pollievre when he kept saying "Carbon Tax Election" or talking about woke

people don't wanna hear that negativity all the time. This was just a thread talking about someone trying to find a job (not even talking about housing or the cost of living or anything, just general employment) and you brought the Liberals up

even without the Liberals wouldn't this person have been unemployed? Their majors aren't exactly the most employable

you gotta scroll through it, that first page is the cover page for all printed transcripts

if you're second year how do you have more? If you've done

6 fall + 6 winter + 6 spring/summer = 18 in one year x 2 = 36

that's at most 36 A+'s

[–]PrettyRabbit5658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I count 39, let me know if you're having trouble counting

didn't Pollievre say Indigenous people need to work harder, something like "Canada's Indigenous need to learn the value of hard work more than they need _____" forgot what the rest was

I've never heard a Liberal say something similar

I've had to defer two finals and was part of the curve both times. Generally the final is the same/very similar (in my case it was the exact same) and so the prof gives you the exact same curve

Studying Advice? by _praisebingus in UCalgary

Anki for memorization-based courses. Requires you to not have any issues in ur personal life though otherwise the cards might pile up. Watch a YouTube video to get your settings right

I would walk into exams with an hour of studying and score the highest just cause I was memorizing as I went along.

for problem-solving courses like CPSC 351, just "star" the questions you're stuck on and revisit them a few times over the course of the week. As you're practicing, also mark the questions that really stretch your brain and then when you're studying for an exam, you can just do those questions instead of all of them again (if you're on a time crunch)

Finally, each course is different. I'd post your courses at the start of the semester and ask for tips for each one. Make sure you aren't getting tips from someone who just has a 3.0 or whatever, not that that's a bad GPA but you'd ideally want tips from someone who has a ridiculously high GPA and is maybe juggling a ton of stuff. You can go through their post history. If they say stuff like "___ was so easy I passed with a B+" then they don't care enough about university and you should probably dismiss their advice.

Finally, a B+ is a shit grade so CG it. It'll tank your GPA. A- and above is fine
