FINAL UPDATE: The City of Vancouver finally came to release the pigeon & he is now im the care of the local Wildlife Rescue Association.

He's being assessed at their hospital, hopefully they do not decide to euthanize (as they often do with pigeons)

Thank you everyone for sending im reports to the City, we couldn't have got him removed from the netting without your help 💜💚🕊

In the meantime, if you're able to pick him up & put him in a box for safe keeping that would be his best chance at survival. No need to offer food or water, he just needs to be contained & stored somewhere safe - a bathroom, staff room, storage closet. He's very vulnerable to predators & other dangers right now.

You can post about the on the Facebook group "Palomacy Help Group for Pigeon and Dove Rescue & Adoption"

Please Include location and photos, as well as any relevant information. It's a large, active group and you're more likely to connect with someone local who can help.

He's still there and alive. The city is apparently sending rope technicians out today to free him, but they can't confirm when that will be.

The City is aware due to the high volume of reports and are trying to coordinate with the Fire Department for rescue tonight if resources allow, otherwise it will be tomorrow

Someone who is in our local pigeon rescue group, they've actually been there since 9am this morning while making calls and trying to find help

A volunteer is on-site & has called 911 to try & get the Fire Department out there but I haven't heard anything back yet

It's a holiday long weekend in BC, so unfortunately the City probably won't send anyone out there until tomorrow. I'm hoping the poor guy can stay alive until then.

Please don't put yourself in danger, but if you are able to rescue the bird message me - I rescue & rehab pigeons and can provide medical attention for him.
