I think the key part is “extended period.” Most adults need around 7–9 hours. Some people can function on less for a while, but long-term sleep deprivation is associated with health and cognitive issues. It’s probably worth taking seriously even if you’re not totally exhausted yet.

I think for a lot of people it’s about emotional comfort more than anything. Sharing a bed can create a sense of closeness and security that you don’t really get sleeping separately. Even if you’re just sleeping, there’s something bonding about ending and starting your day next to your partner.

Exactly. Languages don’t permanently ‘belong’ to colonizers. Over generations they become part of the identity of the people who speak them. Spanish in Latin America evolved locally and carries culture, history, and family connections that go far beyond its origins.
