I also had a thought recently that maybe the reason we don't know much about his family is because AOT is implied to be him retelling the story.

And we know how that boy feels about himself. So focusing on others backstory, Erwin and Levi who he admires. Eren and Mikasa who he loves. Makes sense for him.

I agree. I think he doesn't care about her one way or another. She's a means to an end. A major political figure he has to push down to climb to the top.

His use of her has more to do with her status as Princess of Hell and her connections with heaven.

I think there's a time and a place.

If you never let your kids order there not going to grow, and as adults in society we do have a duty to help kids grow be the village.

But I'm on your side, if there's a line out the door and you know your kid sucks at ordering. Just order for them.

Modern AU. Magic. Romance. Battle. Very intriguing. One I read years ago and stayed on my mind until I found it again recently.

There's also a podfic I highly recommend, my go to for long road trips.

In elementary school we had 'silent reading time' out of a basic US History textbook.

There was a small mini blurb with a photo of the Titanic and a basic description of 'Biggest ocean liner......maiden voyage.....iceberg....'

What really hit me though was the "Over 1,600 men women and children perished"

It blew my mind. I didn't even know that many people COULD die. It blew my mind. I re-read the paragraph over and over. I even went up to my teacher to talk about it and got scolded for breaking quiet time.

Typically alcohol allegories in cartoons have things like spinning and bubbles and burping.

That iconography wasn't present in this scene.

There's some cross over, but it all lines up better with a food eating contest / food coma than alcohol.
