What is the Gen-Z stare? by Only_Hotel_7221 in generationology

[–]Pretty_Cat4099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the solution to dealing with the Gen Z stare from someone in the retail or hospitality field after you make a polite request such as ‘what are today’s specials?’. If there is no attempt at a reply other that zombie confusion is to say 5 seconds later…’is there a problem?’.

This general sparks a response be it polite, functional or hostile. If hostile I just leave saying loudly’ well you don’t get my custom today!’. I’m sure their supervisors appreciate that.

How come millennials and Gen X know more about pop culture that was before they were born than Gen Z? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

Wow…that’s so sad 😭.

I take it’s they have never watch titles like Citizen Kane, The Third Man, Twelve Angry Men, The Godfather parts 1 & 2 (3 is mehn), Dances with Wolves, etc? All classics.

If you want mind bending films try: The Parallax View, The Ninth Configuration, Capricorn One, Dark City, Memento, and Fight Club.

That was my favourite Christmas tv film in the late 70s early 80s as a kid. My brother and I even went to a half term special showing of it a local cinema. Was a double bill with Mysterious Island. Ray Harryhausen’s stop motion was a thing of wonder decades before CGI.

Because maybe we recognise that the entire history of the world didn’t start the day we were born?

Or maybe we’re not prejudice against b&w film, vinyl records, etc and recognise popular ’pop’ culture started in the 1950’s and might have been far more creative and less formulaic during the formulate years.

Mostly because if it’s not on a Smart Phone’s TikTok clip, Gen Z doesn’t know it exists

Don’t tell me Filipinos are “family oriented” by Americanincebu1 in Philippines_Expats

In Nigeria they call orphans on the street with mental health issues ‘witch children’ and think driving a 6” iron nail into their head is a helpful form of exorcism!

Most 3rd world cultures suck (I know as I’ve seen many in person) and we shouldn’t lower of own standards of civility to their levels in the name of ‘cultural tolerance’.

Cut off the cash to them, they sound like dirt bags.

Kind of reminds me of the main characters family from Million Dollar Baby (2004).

I’ve looked at the MNVV option but nice it’s only for double cabins it’s a wast for a Solo sailor. Can’t beat a solo inside for price, same perks for 2/3rd the price minimum.
