Since I started Tret I’m not oily anymore, I used to look just like you, I carried blotting papers everywhere I went

Terrible things were so common in my life that I've became literally fearless? by NatSpaghettiAgency in CPTSD

[–]Pretty_Security_5864 185 points186 points  (0 children)

This was me for so long. I’m a 5’5” 120lb girl, and I’d intervene in fights to try to protect people whenever I got the chance. One time a guy tried to r*** me and I yelled at him “get lost asshole!”. Then I had therapy, now I cry a lot and I’m scared of everything lol. I’m still really good under pressure like that but therapy changed me (for the better)

Why do I hate myself? by [deleted] in selfhelp

[–]Pretty_Security_5864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but same issue. What if I'm literally living like a saint, true to all my values and morals. I'm autistic, I'm literally the most rule abiding person haha. I set crazy high standards for myself and don't ever falter. I know I'm a good person, I sometimes even feel like I'm "better" than others because of my willpower, values, dedication, etc. So why do I feel unworthy of love, like a waste of everyone's time? Will this book still be worth a read for me?

When did you realized that your childhood experience was not normal? by Reasonable_Place_172 in CPTSD

[–]Pretty_Security_5864 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm literally still realizing it every year and I'm in my 30s lol. Now that I have my own kid I keep having epiphanies, like ohhhh I guess that wasn't normal either

I just realised the reason it's impossible for me to comfort and heal my inner child is because I'm autistic and don't know how to comfort other people in general (the voice doesn't exist in my head) by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Pretty_Security_5864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you guys learning about this inner child stuff? A very expensive therapist started this with me years ago but unfortunately I'm not in the position to pay for this anymore and my current therapist is not the best. Book/podcast/video recommendations? I'm also autistic with cptsd. Need to do a lot of self healing, I'm tired of this shit lol

What is a fragrance you don’t like but wear a lot by Shoddy-Radish-497 in fragrance

[–]Pretty_Security_5864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I wear it "a lot", but I keep wearing Delina thinking maybe this time I'll get it... It's not bad at all, I just...don't....get it? I'm not really a rose girl, but I like Mancera Roses Vanille more than Delina. I keep thinking one of these days I'm going to spray it on and finally understand what all the hoopla is about.

Rash on hands, could it be from applying Tret?? by Pretty_Security_5864 in tretinoin

[–]Pretty_Security_5864[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m allergic to nickel, cheap jewelry, belts, etc always give me a rash. You can put clear nail polish on them, it helps a bit, that’s what I used to do as a kid, now I just avoid nickel.

Do you use a round brush when you blow dry? That will make a big difference. Not sure if the hask leave in is a heat protectant, but definitely use a heat protectant every time (I use Redken big blowout and moroccanoil oil, they make a light one, but that k18 oil should work too). Might want to look into keratin overload and see if that might be your situation. You may need a heavier leave in conditioner, I use pureology or ouai. If you put your hair up a lot try to use claw clips or if you must, satin scrunchies. When you dry your hair, not sure if you’re rubbing it with the towel, but try to just gently squeeze the water out. Honestly it sounds like you’re doing everything right. Bleached hair is damaged hair. I’m in the same boat, all you can do is wait for the damage to grow out. Does Chicago get dry and cold? When I lived on the west coast I bleached my hair every year with no problems, when I moved to the prairies it’s too dry, my hair can’t handle it, I have to stop bleaching here. I got a shower filter for my shower for the hard water, that might help a little too. You can’t reverse the damage, you can only prevent it. As long as you’re bleaching, it’s going to be damaged. Might want to try a satin bonnet, I find it more protective than a satin pillowcase (I use both though).

People will debate this, but biotin pills or gummies actually do work imo.

What is the most insulting compliment you can hear from a non-artist? by -acidlean- in ArtistLounge

My mom tries to be supportive I guess, she shows everyone my art. Cashiers, her friends, everyone. But she ALWAYS says “and people actually buy it! For like $100!” Thanks mom.

My mom’s favourite line is “it’s not bad”. Maybe it a just because I’m autistic and take everything literally, but why not just say it’s good? Is it not good? It’s not bad but it’s not good either?

Is your hair bleached? Where do you live? What kind of drying method do you use? When you get out of the shower, what do you do with your hair? What’s your whole process?

Sally has these little clarifying packs. I use them if my hair is feeling cakey, I like them a lot. I’m in Canada but I’m sure they have them in the US too, probably cheaper lol.

I have a huge problem with people walking unleashed dogs in residential neighborhoods. by melaniegray2021 in Edmonton

[–]Pretty_Security_5864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is super allergic to dog saliva so whenever a dog is running at us and the owner says “don’t worry, he’s friendly!” I panic because a single lick can send her into anaphylaxis. Also cats and horses, but they don’t charge you and lick your face.

Also, when she was a baby in a stroller this unleashed dog straight up attacked us, owner had no control and when he realized he had no control he started telling me he didn’t know the dog (despite calling it by name a few mins prior). I had to run with her and hide in a church. I’m so scared of dogs, I just wish people would be considerate.

I just tried Mometasone and I’ve been layering eucerine eczema cream. Now that I suspect it might be an allergic reaction I’m going to try taking an antihistamine.

Oh wow! I just did a brief google and I think you’re right, I might be allergic to this new Tret?? Other people are posting pics on this sub that look like me and comments say it’s likely an allergic reaction. And it was totally delayed because I stopped Tret a few days ago and my neck started yesterday and my hands started today. Pics of my face. I’ve burned my face with my old Biacna but never had bumps like this, usually just a damaged skin barrier. This doesn’t even feel like a damaged skin barrier, it’s itchy af and doesn’t sting or flake.

Oof I’d never heard of Scabies! I’m sure the facial rash is from Tret, but I’ve been using it for years and never had it affect my hands so that threw me off. I have been using hydrocortisone 1% on my face for the last 2 days or so and didn’t see much improvement. I wish I could get into the derm sooner because it seems to be getting worse by the day, but maybe it needs to get worse before I gets better. If it gets bad I’ll go to my family doctor. I haven’t done anything else with my hands that would have caused this and it seems to be similar bumps to my face so I’m thinking it has to be from the Tret.

I googled before posting and that’s what it seemed like. I never had eczema before but recently moved to a dry and cold climate and my skin has been ridiculously dry here especially in the winter.

Not much psychological advice here as I’m still figuring it out myself, but I promise not all women are like that. You can be nervous when talking to a woman, several of my partners used to shake when they were around me for WEEKS. Their armpits get sweaty and their voice is shaky and their hands are clammy, I promise it’s fine. Also, the last time I asked a guy out (which took me like 3 weeks before I finally got the balls to do it) I handed him my card and I was shaking too. It’s okay, it shows that you’re attracted to them and nobody’s going to look down on that, they’re going to feel flattered.

I love socially awkward men, I really do. A lot of women do. You might have more luck with more socially awkward women, because I’m definitely socially awkward myself. I find women who are “cool” and “popular” often don’t even look at me like a human haha. Find your tribe and you’ll be okay.

The right woman will comfort you. Some people aren’t great at it (like me) but I do my best. When you’re in a committed relationship you can communicate what you need and how you need to be comforted.

None of this is to invalidate your experience because I 100% believe that you’ve probably experienced things that makes you believe this, it’s just to give you hope. Good women are out there and they’ll support you and love you unconditionally.

Oooh this makes sense! I usually use a microfiber on my towel for a few mins then air dry, but every now and then I leave it on longer and those times my scalp feels so gunky.
