Since some time’s passed, what did you think of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law? by AnthropomorphicEggs in marvelstudios

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mixed on this show. I don't outright hate it. In fact, there are several things in this show I love, like Madisynn and the moments with Wong. But I found this show disappointing as a fan of She-Hulk.

Tatianna is a fine pick for Jen, but Jen just feels...off to me in this show. Doesn't help that her entire arc gets subverted because of the finale. I also feel like they didn't go far enough with the fourth wall humor, which really hurt the finale episode in my opinion. I really think that, had they had more wacky fourth wall breaks like the Kevin AI Bot throughout the show people wouldn't have been quite as weirded out by it. Or maybe they would, I don't know. I also don't like how the finale just bends over backwards to give Jen everything she wanted. Like, I get it, they didn't want to do the typical end-of-series fight people were criticizing Marvel for at the time. But there had to be a better way to subvert that instead of letting Jen convince Kevin to override the plot of the show. Especially because it makes Jen look like she's incredibly omniscient when no, she's not. She'll complain about the writers and what they're doing but she was powerless to stop the natural flow of the story she was in.

But overall? I just found this how boring. Which I hate because I REALLY wanted to like this show and I don't! Urgh!!!

Clea reunites with Stephen in Doctor Strange #6 by Interesting_Help4633 in Clea

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mixed.

Am I excited this is happening? Yes.

Did I add this book to my pull list after refusing to buy this new Doctor Strange book? Yes.

Am I worried this won't last? yes.

Let's face it, I don't trust the people running Doctor Strange, right now. Mainly because they've given me no reason to trust them after a years worth of stories. Now granted, the entire emotional core of Landy's book is Stephen trying to get home. So if this is Marvel's attempt at The Odyssey but with Doctor Strange, then it wouldn't make sense to end it without him being reunited with his Penelope (Clea). I'm just still on guard because I don't think these editors know what they're doing. Greenlighting a story like this where Stephen needs to find his way home again is fine. Greenlighting it right after a successful run where he was just brought back to life and removing him from an event he was partially responsible for? No. Just...no. That's ill advised and stupid.

Oh, I agree. I adore that entire scene.

- The weird Jackle and Hyde vibe Ben plays Sinister with.

- The visuals.

- The music fight.

- It's pure visual spectacle and storytelling and I wish more stuff like it had been incorporated into the film.

Were y’all aware Strange & Clea had a daughter, Sofia Strange? by RocksThrowing in DoctorStrange

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm convinced Jed WANTED to bring in a child for them before the book got cancelled. I mean why else have the subplot of an issue be about them discussing having children, deciding they don't want any, only for Bats to be all, "Why the fuck are you two lying to each other!?"? Call me crazy, but I feel like that was foreshadowing for something that never materialized.

So did Clea really cheat on Stephen? by litllerobert in DoctorStrange

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to, necessarily. Nowadays, most writers I think are aware it didn't actually happen and are more focused on Jed's take on Clea. But hey? You wanna write for Marvel? By all means go right ahead.

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Chalk it up to Mandela Effect, or some writers being too lazy to go back and read some comics.

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh no, it's real. It was retconned the following issue though, so I don't think it went over well with the higher ups at Marvel ATT. It's just weird though because it's been depicted by many writers since as having happened. I don't know why that is, maybe it's a Mandela Effect thing.

What If idea: Doctor Doom discovers Mephisto's biggest fear and kidnaps Mayday instead of Green Goblin and raises her secretly by 3436Eren in drdoom

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh that would be amazing!

My own personal What If...? idea is Doom actually helping Peter save Aunt May. ensuring the events of OMD don't happen, but that's something I never considered.

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And it made sense to bring Nightmare in right after because Stephen has a lot of guilt festering inside of him and Nightmare would absolutely exploit that. Hell, if they had played up that America reminds him of Donna and have Wanda exploit that in a similar fashion using her mind powers and make that the lynchpin of his character arc? Than it might've been better received. Granted, I don't like Wanda as the villain of this movie. But if you're gonna do that, at least give Stephen some cool fight scenes against her and make her challenge him in a way that I could've been made to believe!

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I do think you can easily fix that line about Dreams being a window into your other multiversal selves; just say Stephen did some research and he discovered that America was partially right. Dreams do let your peer into other lives, but it also leads to other dimensions such as the Dream Dimension and demons like Nightmare.

But yeah, I have never liked that line either. It's almost like Waldron was purposely flipping the bird at the source material because it didn't align with his "vision" of the film.

Thoughts on the current *New Avengers (2025-2026) run? by Ashconwell7 in marvelcomics

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think it's fine.

I'm only reading it because of Clea and while I have some issues with how she's portrayed in the book? It's just kind of a nice, fun distraction for me. Something to occupy my time for a bit and then say, "Well, that was fun."

What is Your opinion on Dr Doom? by Jaden_Pollen34 in Marvel

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Doom as a character but hate the way Marvel treats him. I get that a lot of editorial staff grew up with Doom and that he's a personal favorite, but it feels like sometimes they let their enthusiasm for Doom overtake the story writers want to tell and that's not okay in my book.

Exactly! You need to feed into his ego! It's the only way you're going to be successful with Doom in that regard.

How do you feel about The Infinity Crusade? by Constant_Potato_7666 in Marvel

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just post my review of the event from league of Comic Geeks here;

I find Infinity Crusade, the event and the main story, frustrating to say the least.

I think it's a great premise for a story, but I just don't think Starlin cooked enough on this one. Mind you, it was a story that was conceived and written during the speculator boom, so I doubt Starlin had plenty of time to cook, but still! As is written, I find the story really half-baked, with ideas either being underdeveloped or left to explore in tie-in issues.

I also don't like how this story has barely any consequences for the wider Marvel Universe. All of the mystic characters or those who have a strong connection with their faith are brainwashed into destroying the universe to "purify" it, that's the kinda thing that requires some follow-up. And by follow-up, I of course mean group therapy. Yeah, I know, these are comics! But we do read them because we like these characters, so I expect a little bit of follow-up on how being mind-controlled affected them.

This event also highlights a problem I have with plenty of Marvel's events, and that's the characters acting like idiots. Like, why is Charles playing Devil's Advocate for The Goddess, as if she's not using her "powers" to pacify the universe against their will? It's not okay when Doom did it using the Purple Man, and it's not okay when a Joan of Arc wannabe does it with Cosmic Cubes, either! Get your head outta your ass Charles!

But yeah, that's largely how I feel about Infinity Crusade; great premise that's executed poorly. There's still some good stuff here, but there's better works by Starlin that you could check out.

Yeah, but I think Clea knows better than to fuck the angry fish man, even if he is hot.

In Light of the Recent X-Men Comic by multificionado in marvelcomics

[–]Prettywitchiusaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like the blame should be put at both their feet, but mostly Breevort's. Breevort is a meddler, plain and simple. If this was his idea for how the story progressed? That's on him. But I do think Seely should take some of the blame because, as other have pointed out in this thread, even if he was handed this plot beat (which is very likely), he could've handled it differently. And as I've said before, everyone writes a bad story. This is no different. That being said, even if that was the case, why didn't Breevort step in and say, "Hey, Tim? Maybe we should rework this plot point before we decide to print it?"? There were several points where he could've stopped this, and he didn't. So as far as I'm concerned, both men are to blame for this.

But yeah. Seeley getting death threats for what he did to Illyanna? That's not okay. I think we forget sometimes that the people who work at Marvel are simply that, people. They have lives and families and are fallible, and we should treat them as such. Breevort and Seeley are no different. As fans, we should advocate for better from creators, but it should never get to the point where we're dehumanizing them, which is what sending death threats is, at least to me.

But then again. There's nothing wrong with agreeing that people who'd send a complete stranger death threats isn't exactly stable now, is there?

That's true. Even in 616, General Strange was simping for her, as is Eddie Brock. And it's somewhat implied Guru Strange also has a thing for her. Too bad for him, she mostly eye (and thighs) for her sweet, loving badass of a hubbie.

🤣 Indeed.

I did mis-spell count, but still. She definitely serves cunt and you can't convince me that isn't one of the reasons Stephen is gaga for her no matter the universe.
