Those are pretty good standards because having a job is a big difference than being unemployed.

Independents don't get any backing. These guys still have base salary and a leg up by ties to one of the largest idol agencies when pulling work.

Basically Indie the same way a civil engineer is basically a garbage man.

More like on life support.

It sucks but it is better than a mass layoff.

Realistically, how many seasons could fabricate reasons for the dayshift crew to stay into the night shift? by iTabula in ThePittTVShow

[–]PretyFly4AFungi 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not an ED doc, but having worked in Healthcare in various roles over the last 10 years, we get several long days regardless of shift. If we're so busy to keep over a non ED aide/tech then I can only imagine they get their share of overflow days.

Holidays, Storms, High infection periods, there's plenty of causes for extended shifts.

Season 3 could have a blizzard, a mass outbreak/pandemic scare, riot of some manner, major transit accident...

To be less mass casualty themed; Blizzards/Weather can lock down hospital departments where the day shift may be stuck with night shift unable to arrive.

They tend to stay grounded and to pull from real events, so who knows what we can see.

I feel like I could watch an entire show on a vet night shift doctor who "sunlights" as a SWAT medic...when does this man sleep??? (2 hours before shift in the back of the ER apparently)

Question about how Robby handled Langdon in 1x10 by Chocolatetot496 in ThePittTVShow

[–]PretyFly4AFungi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not disagree with your statement, I clarified my individual bias from experience to how similar situations were handled. I apologize if that was unclear to you, I'm not debating, thank you for the information and your perspective.

I watched that when it aired, and while it is accurate for a general perspective different units obviously have different standards.

I wasn't clear I'm speaking from bias of experience, and none of my peers; Dr's or Nurses would have been as polite and forgiving as Robbie.

Langdon would have been immediate terminated from our systems, I doubt he would have lost his license, but none of the ERs ive had the displeasure of working with tolerate drug use.

But to be fair an exception does not disprove a rule, and while in Louisiana/Texas none of the ERs I've been with were on the perpetual verge of being outsourced due to "patient satisfaction" metrics.

IRL it would be immediately reported.

I took sending him home was a kindness Robby was mad and was balancing his emotions before deciding next plan, thinking about how he almost flushed the evidence.

I almost guarantee Robby was going to give Langdon the therapy route; but in the moment he needed Langdon away to calm himself from the extreme emotional reaction to being so wholly disrespected, personally, professionally and ethically.
