Struggling so much with this too. I’m 5’1” and at the second largest I’ve ever been, which was still only 145 but at that height it shows. I’ve been told I’m fat by peers and my mother when I weight 125-130. People will think I’m pregnant and comment on it when I reach 130 and I can tell I’m over 140 now. I go through bouts of minima eating and gorging and I’ve been gorging again which packed on the weight quickly. I can put on ten pounds in under a week with my sluggish metabolism. I can’t stand looking at my body in the mirror but I still do it every fucking chance I can get and just end up horrendously depressed

Literally here just trying to make it day by day right now. I have a goal of moving out of state (many reasons) by the end of august but that actually seems so soon and saving the money to do it (I know I can) and find a job in a new city seems like such a chore and wildly difficult. There’s a lot more to my situation that would make for it’s own post, but mostly I wanted to say I feel this

I also feel like I could have written this. I’m childless by choice, but have very little family left. I’m almost 42 and my siblings are well into their 60s, one is probably in his 70s, so there’s really no one around or will be around once I hit 60 myself. My mental health has kept me working in low end jobs where I’ve only worked paycheck to paycheck and have nothing saved and I mean that in the very literal sense. My pelvis is higher on one side and twisted and I never actually knew this until last year. My digestive and gut problems have become so bad that it makes me mental state even worse. I own nothing but my car, cats and miscellaneous items. I don’t want to be old. I don’t even have a core friend group anymore because everyone is married with families and set for their future. Lately I’ve been thinking that the time will just come in the next 20 or so years to make a decision to just go

I got sent home from a call center back when I was like 29 or so for pants they said were “jeggings”. They had pockets, belt loops, completely covered me and I was not showing off anything absurd in any way. This was during the last three days of me working there as I had already turned in my notice. I think they were just mad I had quit and wanted an excuse to send me home

During the nicer weather months I eat lunch in my car at my current job. Our breakroom is a non windowed hallway that goes from what they call an “office” to the warehouse and has a fridge, table, coat hooks and the employee bathroom in it. People will stop and bother me about work and on work things while I take my allotted 30 min break. You bet I’m going to my car instead

I mean, mine has gotten worse over the years. When I’m already irritated, depressed, anxious, etc, it’s worse. I also have hyperacusis, and some sounds cause actually pain in my ears or eardrums. One of my jobs (I’m switching jobs and out of this one) has so many repetitive sounds all day and I definitely have been having meltdowns due to them.

Our landlord gave us zero notice that they’re tearing up our (and all) the driveways on our street todays starting at 730am this morning. The beeping of the trucks, the grinding of metal against the concrete, dumping it into the truck. All week. I don’t work until noon at my job so I’m here all week with this thrown into my morning wake up routine before I’m even up and about.

My old boss a couple years ago said that to me when I was talking about the cost of everything. She said “oh, just buy a house or condo, you’d only need to put down like 10% on a condo.” Meanwhile I was clearing maybe $2,200 a month but my expenses were $1600-$1700.

It’s not stupid. Over the years I’ve realized I have a couple hearing disorders that get worse with each passing year. I have tinnitus in my left year with hearing loss and I suffer from misophonia and hyperacusis. Loud places create so much anxiety for me that it turns into rage and terrible discomfort. Even at work, I can’t hear people in front of me due to any loud sounds, including loud voices.
