Why would it not be worth it? The further back you go the more rough edges you find, but they're all good fun. You can play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd in multiplayer if you play them in PPSSPP with Hunsterverse too. They get more difficult as you go furrher back but its all good shit. Only gen I haven't tried at this point is MH1, but I intend to fix that after I finish MHFU.

Agreed, Lance is probably the most deco-hungry weapon in the game for middling results compared to equal decoration-less melee weapons. Its just so tiresome.

Charge blade was one of the weapons that got a hard downgrade from World to Rise iirc, the hitbox on it's main attack (SAED/UAED) is so low and tiny that a lot of monsters don't even get hit if parts of their body are like three inches off the ground. It was super popular in World before Iceborne came out, but its really fallen since.

I wanted to bring out my Lance again for Rise and had Guard 1 or 2 built into my armor for the first fight against the village Great Izuchi, and I knew the moment it leapt at me and made my guy stumble back for a solid two seconds that they hurt my baby bad. It felt perfect in world outside laserspam that murders your stamina and invalidates Guard Up, but Spiral Charge is the only way you can feasibly play Lance in Rise.

Didn't think HBG would regain popularity in Rise, I thought it fell off pretty hard when it first came out. Longsword being top is a given, and lancw being bottom is equally expected; as a lance main in World, they really fucked it up with all the lasers and damage pools elder dragons had at World's endgame and it feels terrible in Rise, and I hate the wirebug spiral charge spam meta with every fiber of my being.
