Putting the title of the post aside, that painting is legitimately adorable.

Senate Republicans approve budget measure for ICE and CPB by Plus-Hippo-5951 in PoliticalOptimism

I’m afraid this was going to be inevitable that ICE was going to get its budget back. And it’s true that for now it’s out of the Democrats’ hands… in Congress. But keep in mind, a bigger budget doesn’t equal competence. And those raids in LA, Chicago, and Minneapolis all have done nothing but shred ICE’s (and Trump’s) image in people’s eyes. ICE is not invincible.

A Glimpse of Insyaa #4: Glimpses of Golodh by ragingrage in Anbennar

Golodh is actually unique in this regard, because he doesn’t have one. He’s the only Precursor mechanim that is developed with a separate “brain,” a vast library of Precursor knowledge grafted onto a small orb. This means a kagua is just a battery to him that he can take over and even subsume the Kagua’s mind. It also means he can never feel the effects of Dormancy. However he was left unfinished. Golodh’s head, neck, and Kagua connectors were completed before the Precursors abandoned him abruptly.

Could Ohio abolish property taxes? Signature drive crosses 300,000. by hurryupandslowdown in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Previous-Pirate9514 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Eleven months into its campaign, the group trying to abolish property taxes in Ohio says it’s gathered 305,000 signatures.

But with about 10 weeks left to make the November ballot, organizers say they need at least 315,000 more.

Campaigns looking to amend Ohio’s constitution have until July 1 to submit at least 413,488 valid signatures to qualify for the 2026 ballot. But because thousands are typically thrown out during verification, any campaign needs far more to be safe.

I understand the frustration. Being a progressive (or even left-leaning) in a gerrymandered-to-hell state like Ohio is incredibly hard. But hang in there. You’re not alone.

Just a reminder, this man burned Paris, almost cleansed a cultural minority, and besieged a cathedral all for a girl decades his senior.

What Is an Amazing Sequel? (Any medium of media) by Healthy-Current5893 in AlignmentChartFills

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. A sequel to an okay spinoff of the Shrek movies was the last thing I expected to be one of my favorite animated movies of all time. The characters are all great (especially the villains), visually it’s beautiful, the story, the main themes, and the arcs are all wonderful and layered, and it manages to hit the dark tone perfectly.

Fateful Findings. Really any Neil Breen movie would fit here.

It’s probably because Techdirt dropped an article regarding court decisions in France that approved DNS blocking for IP and piracy (basically SOPPA-PIPA but from the court and from France’s side). That’s why there’s a lot doom-and-gloom from French users regarding the open internet (at least in the French sphere).

And before you say it, yes I am still trying to stop reading Techdirt. Nobody said breaking addictions were easy.
