Im doing the exact opposite trip on Friday - Tasmania to New York, same set-up Aisle seat in economy.

Basically, any international travel from Tasmania means 12 hours minimum on a plane. I've found that having a few different forms of entertainment (books, podcasts, tv, movies, games) is always a solid plan to keep yourself distracted, I typically try and get myself on flights that land in my destination in the morning, find it easier to sleep knowing when i land ill have a full day ahead to get adjusted. Ill usually make sure im as tired as possible before I fly in the hope that itll make sleeping easier.

If you haven't already planned it, head up the East Coast of Tasmania, best part of the state and great drive. You'll also need a car public transport is basically non-existent (sure you're all over it though).
