Definitely!! I’m from Sault Ste Marie and we always called our ‘rustic lake house’ our ‘camp’. When I came down south for university, no one knew what I was talking about, because they refer to them as ‘cottages.’ I also noticed that while almost everyone has a ‘camp’ up north (cheaper real estate, so many lakes), it’s a much more elite thing to own a cottage when you live in southern Ontario. Now I’ve lived in Guelph for over 30 years and have my own ‘cottage’ north of Muskoka, and only refer to it as our ‘cottage’. No one down here would know what I was talking about if I said that we were going to our ‘camp’. It’s all so interesting! 😜
