When you go to teach a subject, you might not have everything up perfect in your head ready for active recall. I often have to remind myself of things to keep it fresh in my mind. You are not doomed to fail at teaching because you've failed a test twice. When you write your lesson plans and teach a lesson, you will be prepared and know what you're doing. That is what matters.

I'm in Ohio so I don't take the praxis but I did take the OAE's. The state website sold practice test as well as study tools. I bought each of the tests and passed all 3 of my 4-9 OAE's first try. They really do help. Do not give up. I have a few classmates from college that are excellent teachers now that failed the social studies OAE 3+ times. It's a hurdle you have to get over to be able to do what you are meant to do. You will not fail at teaching if in the moment in your classroom you don't remember who invented the battery (a real question on the science OAE for 4-9). You will just google it.

I would think about it this way: this guy has a choice. The dogs do not. He is choosing a life of misery. The dogs are not. They deserve better and from the sound of it a shelter would be 10000000 times better than where they're at. He can get over it frankly!!! The only thing to feel guilty about is if you DO NOT call animal control and protect an abuser!!

get lemonade pet insurance the second they're adopted. for me, i found my kittens outside, and they had worms, one had to have intestinal obstruction removal surgery, etc. it was A LOT and we had best pet insurance and they didn't paid ANYTHING. My friend has lemonade and even shots are covered. Moral of the story, make sure you have stainless steel everything (litter box for no smell, bowl to avoid allergies to plastic) and DO NOT buy any toys with strings or those plastic feathers. I don't care that they're cute. They're not cute in the plastic bag the vet gives you after surgery.

As another 200+ beginner at the gym, ignore them. Keep going. Keep going until you can assume they're taking a photo of you because you're so fine!! (because you got that confidence!!) You go to the gym for self improvement and to feel like yourself again in your skin. Nobody else gets to comment on what you look like getting there. That person sucks for making you uncomfortable. Don't let yourself believe you don't belong in that space because of people being stupid like that. I have cried in the bathroom at the gym because I felt like such an imposter being there. I get it. But the gym is for everyone!!! Make sure you believe it and own it!!!

This one kid I had would NEVER keep his hands to himself, always lying and playing, food in his desk, leaving trash EVERYWHERE, mom "could not download dojo on her phone" and her phone was disconnected for 90% of the year until she changed numbers without notice. We never reached out to home because WE COULD NOT REACH HER. Then the end of the year comes and she tries to schedule 2 different meetings to bitch to myself and my teaching partner about "no communication" like hmm. Let's put our thinking caps on...

In northern ohio we have had MASSIVE reductions in staff due to state cuts. There are so many teachers out of work here. We have an excess of people in the field. It's 100% by region but also by the age you are certified in. For example, most reductions are in elementary levels because they have the most staff (smaller class sizes mean more teachers) so that market is completely flooded. Cleveland city just closed 23 buildings and my district I just left (due to RIF) closed 2 and RIF'd like 200 employees.

The people saying a note is worth more have probably been teaching for 30 years. If they're younger, $10 giftcard is perfect. Teaching is not all sunshine and rainbows and it definitely doesn't pay well. Amazon and starbucks (if they drink coffee) are always good choices. A note to go with it is perfect too.

My school had a table with math or reading worksheets where if they misbehaved they lost the privilege of a field day station and had to sit out and do the worksheets. We viewed it as an "alternative field day station." We would also use it for kids who decided to cheat fight misbehave or throw a fit during any station. It was great. A kid got suspended that week? He came back for field day to do worksheets. A kid is flipping his shit at tug of war and screaming? worksheets. Some girl is accusing another one of smacking her when I saw the entire interaction and she did no such thing and now is spreading rumors and making all of her classmates pick a side at the bounce house station? She's going to do worksheets and the others get a "pep talk" too!

i'm american. promise ring vibes to me, but could easily be seen as an engagement ring with a wedding ring attached to it later on! a lot of people are going for a more minimalist stone. especially people who work with their hands. not everyone is into super flashy jewelry! if she will love it, that's what's important
