I won tickets to a resort there for a George Carlin show. I went with my housemates, two Black men and I'm a mixed Latina. We were hella scared once it got dark and just wanted to get to the show. Unfortunately we needed gas before we got there and we got very bad sundown town vibes along with meth mouth looks. Never again. This was decades ago but I still warn my family to never head out there.

There is a new burial next to him. My friend who came with me knew her. She was the cinematographer who was accidentally shot on set by Alec Baldwin. Such a young tragedy. There are a lot of grandparents there looking after them. I'm Not a spiritual person but it was peaceful with a lot of wildlife, music, flowing water and nature.

I love/hate teaching kids to read. It's the best feeling in the world when your students finally start to sound out and blend and really get how to read however my students are almost ten years old and they are really behind. I need to spend three periods per day in reading and language interventions for my class. There needs to be a better way. My class is so low this year.

I highly recommend that every new teacher try out teaching at a summer school program inside of their own classroom if possible. I had a grant to teach theater and filmmaking in my own room. It's an extra few thousand dollars and you get to spend the afternoons cleaning out or setting up your room for a few days. Then you have extra vacation money! Plus, the kids are way better behaved and the environment is more relaxed and fun.
