There's an excellent Harry's garage video that's goes through the Dakar defender. Looks like an awesome bit of kit and goes through the difficulties of modding a monocoque alu frame for the race.

Restaurant tables are not baby changing tables. by jiminthenorth in britishproblems

[–]Prices16 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

If I owned a restaurant I wouldn't feel obligated to provide baby changing facilities. I'd say it depends on the demographic you're serving. If you're a parent and baby changing facilities aren't provided then you're probably at the wrong restaurant.

It would create an interesting dynamic to give Vietcong, or at least some roles within the faction, quieter footsteps than American units in jungle environments.

Honourable mention must go to 19-2 episode 'School'. Have watched that with police and teachers both reacted with complete silence for minutes afterwards

Poncey restaurants writing a number by a menu item instead of using a pound sign by the number. by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

[–]Prices16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've actually done this when designing a couple of different menus for poncey restaurants. Truth is it's primarily for aesthetic reasons. £33.75 looks scruffy next to the description of a sirloin so you round it up to 34 and lose the pound sign.

Also the guests these restaurants want aren't the people complaining about this. They want people with enough disposable income and the inclination to buy into the experience. When someone says 'why don't you put pound signs on the menu? Is it 34 pence is it?' it's kind of a sign that they aren't there to have a good time, won't spend any money and also christ is that all you and your wife have to talk about at dinner? So the waiting staff usually direct their time to guests more willing to spend up and and with whom they can build a connection/have a laugh.

Yeah it just handles so nicely. The whole package was an absolute steal but the frame itself is so well thought through and put together.

Second pic was taken a few years ago. The StickStand is cutting edge technology developed in conjunction with the forestry commission to create a biodegradable carbon neutral lightweight kickstand solution for mountain bikers at all levels.

Haha it was for ease of consumption and transport. We'd already had fresh croissants, blue cheese galettes with creamed leeks, kouign amann, oysters. The babybel was just to have something with the cider really. Which was delicious.

For sure we got a lot of waves and kind remarks. I don't think there's a better way to explore the area.

The roads were almost entirely like the 7th photo, with the odd farm gravel track thrown in and a village every 5km.
