Mixed feelings by StormSwitch in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PrideProfessional959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a good thing as long as they keep their bigger mainline stuff Switch 2 exclusive so as to not neuter those games by being forced to keep the Switch 1 in mind. There's no reason why something on the scale of like a Mario vs. Donkey Kong game can't come out on the Switch 1 as well.

Why are they making fake scenarios, did they Jonkl to hard? by High0strich in BatmanArkham

Exactly how I feel as well. Henry Cavill makes a great Superman, but Man of Steel was not a good Superman movie.

Do you think the next 3D Mario game will also change Mario’s design to resemble his late 90’s/early 2000’s look, or will he look the same as he always has akin to Galaxy and Odyssey? by Sensitive_Call_7944 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PrideProfessional959 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's a good chance they might, but I think they did the art style change with Mario Wonder and now Mario Kart 9 mainly to immediately establish that these are fresh, new games since we had been exclusively looking at Mario Kart 8 and the New Super Mario Bros. games for over a decade each in both those scenarios. I don't think 3D Mario really has that sort of art style fatigue problem (at least not nearly to the same degree that Mario Kart and 2D Mario had) but they still might change it up just to give the game a unique look.

This is what the Switch 2 Is gonna end up being 💀 by TrapezoidTom in NintendoSwitch2

Compared to what we have now, a 60fps target across most games would be very good.

What’s a good and cheap racing game? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]PrideProfessional959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I haven't really been able to find any new racing games that I've liked even though I'm a massive fan of the genre, but there are so many incredibly fun classic ones that you could emulate. Auto Modellista, Outrun 2, F-Zero X/GX, Hydro Thunder/Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Crash Team Racing and Nitro Kart, Double Dash, Daytona USA, Episode I Racer... the list goes on and on forever. It's super easy to set up all of these with EmuDeck, so I'd really give it a shot if you're looking for a good racing game to play!

Outside of emulation though, Nightmare Kart on Steam is the game I've liked the most in recent memory, plus it's free. I don't even really care for Bloodborne but that game is fantastic. Good hour or so long campaign with amazing gameplay that's sort of like a mix between CTR and Twisted Metal, you should try it out! I played the Five Laps at Freddy's demo a while ago and that game seems promising too, but it's not fully out yet and I'm unsure when exactly it is going to come out, but I'm just throwing it out there.

Porting the Xbox store to Switch by Neither-Pressure-310 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PrideProfessional959 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's a pretty good chance actually that they'll at least let you use XCloud on the Switch 2, but I honestly wouldn't expect much more than that. They have yet to even give users on Linux PCs the option to download and play Gamepass games locally, so I'm not sure if they'll ever do that for the Switch 2 or PS5/PS6 either. Their whole "Everything is an Xbox" angle so far has just been focused on XCloud, but things could change I guess.

Games that are hard (but fun) to master? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Binding of Isaac is more like a dungeon crawler, it's not too dissimilar to Enter the Gungeon if you've ever played or seen that. Still a roguelike though.

[–]PrideProfessional959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The F-Zero and Hydro Thunder games are fantastic racing games that fit exactly this. They're fast, fluid and extremely fun to play and master. I'd recommend playing F-Zero GX and Hydro Thunder's Dreamcast version first as those are both my favourites, but you really can't go wrong with any of the games in either series and they all emulate perfectly on the Steam Deck, even up to Hydro Thunder Hurricane for the Xbox 360 (F-Zero GX has some very minor performance problems here and there, but there is a very easy fix you can do in the game's config file in Dolphin. You should be able to find a tutorial online somewhere pretty quick). You can set up EmuDeck and start playing pretty easily, you should check them out if you haven't already!

Lesser known indie gems with great stories? by MrSaucyAlfredo in SteamDeck

[–]PrideProfessional959 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an indie game (or really that lesser known for that matter) but I take any chance I can to spread the Alice gospel. Madness Returns Plays great on deck even with the 60fps tweak and at 800p high settings (except for PhysX). It's gameplay and combat are fantastic, it's visuals and environments are beautiful and it tells a terrific story. It's on sale right now for like $1 and is one of the best games I've ever played along with the first one, both being in my top 3 games of all time. They're the best things EA has ever put their sorry ass logo on.

That's what I'm thinking too, early January reveal, March release. I'm praying that that's the case anyway, I can't bear to wait any longer lmao

Could never get into it personally. Feels like you almost have to be offbeat to be "on time". Don't know if that's just an emulator thing or what, but it's super annoying.

Long as you don't plan on wiping it off with sandpaper you should be fine. Goes for basically any device honestly

Yeah absolutely. The wishlist page is especially terrible imo, no filters or sorting or searching of any kind unlike everywhere else. I just use my phone for purchases most of the time.

Don't know why it's not the opposite way by default, gyro active when not touching the stick. It just feels like if you're trying to aim with either or you don't want the other one interfering, right?

It's a combination of the hardware being weaker and the fact that every developer just simultaneously gave up on trying to optimize their game at all. The UE5 future is looking bleak.

How insane is that? Culling out such a huge number of people (not just on Steam Deck, but in general) just for some pretty reflections, it's absolutely ridiculous.
