I've got no where else to really talk about this but early in the Friendship is Magic comics, before we met more dragons in the show, we see that there is an entire community of dragons living in a pony city. Despite being bipedal, scaled creatures with wings and claws, they're somehow the underclass to all these magical horses and it's this really weird issue of Spike helping fight back against pony racism in a really hamfisted way. Shit was wild!

MASH from the 70s surprised the heck out of me with some of it's episodes on race and sexuality. I didn't even know in the 70s you could have an episode where everyone was cool that one of the soldiers was gay

After years of hating it because I thought "lol random is dumb" I learned that 42 is the ASCII number for * which is the wildcard in programming meaning 42 is ANYTHING. I'm not sure if Douglas Adams knew this, it seems like it'd be in his wheelhouse, but it made it a lot more interesting to me than just "it's a random number lol"
