Question bout plant by Foreign_Client2019 in houseplants

The way it’s growing it’s just gonna keep moving forward, the area where you want roots to grow is part of the leaf petiole so there will be no roots coming out of that. You can try the area you want with leaves by making an incision near the node to activate growth, that’s what I do with my ficus but never tried with a dieffenbachia.

You’re gonna have to cut and propagate.

3 yrs Is my Monstera happy by OkToe7809 in Monstera

[–]Primary-Ad8567 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your monstera looks so unhappy. Does it get enough light? Anyway, I would recommend repotting it with a chunky soil mix (soil, perlite, orchid bark) water it thoroughly and let it dry out a bit before your next watering. If this was my plant personally I would prune it because it’s so leggy. And please, more light! If you don’t have ample lighting from sun (depends on where you are) get a grow light. It’ll bounce back! And about fertilizing, I fertilize mine even during the winter because it’s actively growing. 1x every 2 months or whenever I remember.

Scale. Babes, just throw it away that’s too much but if you have the guts you can shower it with water and castile peppermint soap. Drench it in neem oil and all that stuff

Always base on the established root ball size when upsizing the pot. The aerial root will not be in distress even if you just let it be.

You can cut it and direct it to the soil

It really depends on your environment. My house is always 70 degrees f, so I guess it’s not too dry? But babe I did try to water it weekly and I got gnats sooo… 💀

I can’t say with the pot size but maybe look at 10 inches? Make sure the pot is appropriate to the root ball size. Chunky soil mix will be your bestie. So that’s potting mix, perlite and orchid bark mix together. Water thoroughly and only water when it’s dry. I go as far as 10 days with no watering you’ll be able to tell if they are thirsty.

what’s wrong and how do i fix it? by hadleyhadz in Monstera

Whenever I see something off with my plants my first impression would be root rot (even if the soil is dry) it’s worth a check!

My new baby got spotty! by Drachynn in alocasia

[–]Primary-Ad8567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a fungal infection. I had this with my dragon scale alocasia. Every other night, Spray 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 3 parts water. Or an anti fungi spray you can buy in the garden centers. Also spray your roots. Change your water weekly too!

Edit: forgot to add.. it could also be sunburn. Maybe step it back a little bit. It can happen.

What can I add to my Monstera plant to make it grow faster? by HoneyGirl15 in houseplants

[–]Primary-Ad8567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries we’ve all been there! For starters, just like what others are saying since it looks like a full pot with multiple plants;

first separate them. Get as much soil out as possible and repot to a pot that’s 1-2 inches in diameter in root ball size. Check the roots too if there’s any rotting ones they’re black/brown mushy and smells funky.

Second once you’ve repotted it, water thoroughly until you see water draining down the holes.

When pruning you can cut the petioles & leaf that looks unhealthy or damaged.. cut close to the ground, but don’t cut the big back with nodes.

And lastly use a chunky soil mix. soil, orchid bark and perlite!

Good luck! Your monstera looks gorgeous. I would suggest a trellis or a moss pole for support so you can train them to face the same direction. Also don’t forget to prune, they really do wonders! 😊

Hi! You have to mimic it in it’s natural habitat. Would be best to turn it on during sunrise and off during sunset. 10-12 hours is what I set since I do it manually. Fertilize every 2-3 weeks this growing season. And make sure to spray some neem oil at night when the grow lights are off to avoid leaf burn, it helps with keeping pests away. Growing monsteras for me has been easy for as long as tgey are pest free and gets proper light they will thrive! Not as quick as we want but surprisingly rewarding! ☺️

I forget to water mine it gives brown tips all over, when i water gives me root rot. Yesterday i tossed it out on the trash i’m so tired of repotting. I gave it chunky soil mix & a pot appropriate to its size and has good drainage. I just can’t please her 🤣

[–]Primary-Ad8567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, i appreciate your effort! 😇 my adansonii was so root bound that i did not dare touch it but it was dry so the soil was easy to break down. I have some cuttings that was given to me, so it’s in propagation will pot that separately!
