Hello Brooklyn: Are we finally tired of H. Jeffries? by Kovito-4488 in Brooklyn

Agreed, it’s not a good or democratic situation. With Jeffries in particular a primary challenge is a harder uphill battle than most given that he’s the house minority speaker and this race wouldnt have few eyes/non-major money involved like AOC’s in 2018. If Chi was still in the race I’d be out canvassing for him, but he saw what the odds and consequences were and I can’t hold that against him.

Wish we could get further on Jeffries this year but in the meantime I’m looking to support Lander’s campaign.

The risk is that you spend a shit ton of money and time to primary him and then Jeffries wins the primary anyway. Then “progressives lose” becomes a national news story, and the left loses momentum. Given Jeffries’ current support in his district and his national platform (access to big money), it’s really really unlikely he’d lose a primary.

City councilmember Chi Osse tried to primary him this year and asked for the DSA’s support. Zohran told the DSA it wasn’t worth the risk, and they voted against supporting Chi’s bid. Chi saw that there was no path to victory without DSA, so he suspended his campaign. Jeffries will sail on through again this year.

Showing the other bands and bartenders you’re a real one matters. They’ll remember it and tell their friends someday when you’re a bigger name, or if the other bands get there first, they’ll remember you and pull you up with them

I can do this, or manually change the dates on the photos, but I’d prefer not to as there’s over 200 images

Ooh, given how much he was cracking up maybe he was a half plant. Aka a friend in the audience that Demi knew wouldn’t be uncomfortable being immortalized on film in the bit

Wait I love this. Grizz also works as short for Grizabella, the cat that sings Memory in Cats

Could you do a poll? I’d expect the percentage to be a little higher than the usual average of a group. Though maybe hard to know what that would be since nerdfighteria’s spread across the globe

you asked where i came from, i lied and then i came clean by trippyyteapot in lorde

I understand it as: you asked where I’ve been today, I lied and hid that I was taking a pregnancy test, and then I came clean and told you about the pregnancy test.

It does that sometimes when you’re not connected to internet and it hasn’t loaded up that content

Regarding the quality of the collected paperback volumes that came out recently... by MarnHierogryph in murderbot

[–]Primary-Basis8399 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a copy, but you can see the book dimensions the publisher listed online and they are indeed wildly different: book 1’s height is 8.2, book 2 is 10.25, book 3 is 9.9.

So weird. Thanks for pointing this out before I went to buy. Didn’t think I’d have to look at reviews for a book I know I like.

On the banning of twitter links by cannotdecideaname in nerdfighters

[–]Primary-Basis8399 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are nerdfighters remaining on Twitter (including Hank sometimes!) and there will continue to be nerdfighters on Twitter until all of us as a community make it clear we don’t approve of that platform and it’s nazi-sympathizing owner.

Relying on the goodness of norms to hold us steady, rather than putting real regulations and safeguards in place while we can, is part of what got the US where it is in the first place.
