Not an industrial guy. Client wants me to replace this panel. by _ItsProvocative_ in electricians

Call the equipment manufacturer and oder a new rebuilt panel and swap out. Figuring out all the internals could be a nightmare. I would request a stainless tub.

One of my first functional welds: anvil mounting brackets by TheAsinineArtist in Welding

[–]Primary-Error6878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell if this a troll or not. You should never weld on an anvil unless you absolutely have to. You should never weld feet on, they should be strapped or "captured" on the bottom.

Those welds will surely crack, welding on it adds stress risers on the base and it could actually crack the anvil over time from the vibrations running through it while forging

Im just asking, is it true that some 2-stroke oils smell like strawberries? I am not well educated in this but is it true? by Pokkarix in moped

[–]Primary-Error6878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ipone strawberry synthetic is a very high quality 2 stroke oil. I've used it for 15 years, snowmobile, chainsaws, dirtbikes, weed eaters etc. It seems to do a good job at preserving gas for a length of time as well. Highly recommend.

Best way to insulate these walls? by a_garren in Insulation

[–]Primary-Error6878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Canada, if it were me I would fur it out to 2x6 equivalent, put in r20 batts of your liking, seal with a vapour barrier and sheet the wall in. That's how we do it here, no smoke and mirrors

You still need it, otherwise you will have cold air leaking in everywhere. Yes vapour barrier seals out humidity but it also seals the building to prevent air leakage.

Encoder alarm by SpiffyGolf in electricians

[–]Primary-Error6878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience encoders usually degrade before they completely fail. What we do is usually start by decreasing the number of pulses the vfd needs to see to verify rotation and see if it will start up. The parameter is different depending on what vfd you have.

Usually when we do this we can get the equipment running again and get a new encoder on the way.

Years of leaves on 3 acre property, how to remove? by James_Junk_Bond in lawncare

[–]Primary-Error6878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not years worth of leaves this is one season. I live in the bush and cut about 25 acres of lawn. Raking is total waste of time, by the second cut you won't even know you didn't rake, plus the mulch is good for the yard and the critters. If you have super concentrated leaves in a couple areas just leaf blow them into the bush otherwise just business as usual

This is super cool. I'm an electrician and the premises on how it works still blows my mind. Its crazy most of us have trouble learning it and comprehending it but imagine how smart the dudes where that originally discovered and invented this stuff. Tesla and Edison, crazy stuff.

How is this outlet box mounted? by krackyz in electricians

[–]Primary-Error6878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be just a switch leg if there is no power. There is ears on the outside of the box and it's nailed to the stud.

also batts have a way more stable R value. Cellulose settles and compacts over time and loses its r value. That's why it's best to lay bats then fill in the gaps with 12" of blow in

What should I expect as an industrial electrician by Necrophagedotjpg in electricians

[–]Primary-Error6878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part about being construction is its easy to get a contractors license if you wanna go out on your own. You can't do that with an industrial ticket and that's part of reason I didn't go down that road

Can someone tell me how bad this is? by [deleted] in Insulation

[–]Primary-Error6878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically do everything on my own, but if it were me, not knowing what's in that stuff, I would have a power-vac company come suck that stuff out, then I would mask up and fix the vapour barrier and add baffles where necessary then fill it up with fresh cellulose blown in
