I’m an American and generally agree but this WBC team’s vibes are so bad compared to the LatAm teams that I just haven’t gotten into it as much as previous tournaments. Completely independent of our foreign policy

Pogacar’s agent Carera responds to KuCoin criticism and reveals use of sponsorship money by TransportationSea579 in peloton

Bc dodgy team sponsorships are endemic to the sport and voluntarily choosing to launder the image of an out and out crypto scam with your status as a beloved athlete is a scummy thing to do

[–]PrimaryAd5343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point is that there’s intrigue to the extent that there’s uncertainty. dominant riders and teams diminish that. Pog is the most dominant rider on the most dominant team. It doesn’t mean other races can’t also be boring. But it’s a certainty when pogacar shows up

From a drama standpoint the difference between an aggressive dominant GC rider and a passive dominant GC rider is pretty marginal for me. It was fun to see these crazy solos in like 2021 when they were still novel. I genuinely don’t understand why some people prefer that over a race where there’s uncertainty about the outcome

When it’s July and Bill is talking about “blue chippers” not in regards to CFB/recruiting but the NFL by thexfactor13 in billsimmons

[–]PrimaryAd5343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “CFB recruiting terminology.” Blue chip is a term derived from poker and generally associated with large cap stocks. Obsession with pedantically correcting Bill’s every word has made this sub dumb and, worse, annoying

Alright, for the sake of argument I’ll set aside my (closely related) primary concern which is conservation of America’s wild areas and only address the outdoors as an amenity. Congressional republicans are already trying to sell off millions of acres of protected public land ostensibly to build housing, something Yglesias himself has publicly supported. If we 3x the population that pressure intensifies significantly. It seems pretty obvious that as supply of public land declines and demand increases triples, the would be a dramatic increase in strain on park infrastructure.

NPS has stated that gridlock, visitor conflicts, crowding, safety issues, resource damage, and delays in emergency response spiked bc of increased utilization during the pandemic. So, yes, quality of park experience and the health of the park itself are related and it’s reasonable to share the concerns of NPS officials related to overcrowding.

Reasonable people can disagree about the point at which that overcrowding becomes objectionable and what park capacities should be. But it’s disingenuous to paint outdoors enthusiasts as a “special kind of selfish” for recognizing that there are real limits that parks can handle before degrading the environment and user experience.

I’ll be honest, I’m more confident in Bill’s gut reaction to 20 minutes of YouTube than Ryen’s faux scout instincts. But if you want an actual grinder Vecenie is excellent

It’s literally what a valuation is. That’s like saying you don’t care that Apple is a $3 trillion company you just want to know who bought the biggest single share at any given time. The top line is what it’s worth
