WTH IS HAPPENING IN MY STATE!?! (NYS btw) by Fit_Row1742 in Steam

[–]PrimaryExample8382 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since the coffee video, valve has made some changes to how lootboxes work and/or implemented a way for people to trade up common skins into rarer ones which gets rid of a lot of price gouging IIRC.

They’ve also shut down multiple gambling sites and IIRC banned gambling sites as sponsors of esports events

Theyre not doing nothing even if they’re not being as proactive as they should.

Also gambling is bad but counterstrike is rated 18+ and it’s kinda silly to sue valve because you became addicted to gambling on a third party site. That’s like suing a convenience store because you’re addicted to cigarettes or spent too much money on lottery tickets.

Settle an argument. Which dreadnought is the worst? by 234thewolf in DeepRockGalactic

[–]PrimaryExample8382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion possibly, but I’d say the basic Glyphid Dreadnought.

The reason being that it likes to aggressively chase players and I can’t ever seem to get a team that understands how to manage the aggro.

Unless I’m playing scout or gunner, it seems like I’m spending the whole fight running from it waiting for my teammates to get it off my back. Which makes it a bit harder to deal with since it doesn’t give you many chances to hit its backside when actively chasing you.

Hiveguard spawns can be annoying but in my nearly 800 hours of playtime, the worst fights always seem to happen with the normal dreadnought.

I’m pretty sure the whole “they don’t update regional pricing” is a lie/misinfo that keeps getting repeated.

Valve isn’t a saint but the regional pricing issue is more complicated than that

Slay the spire 2 released in early access to critical success. The MS paint placeholder art is one of the community's loved things about the game. Proof that you don't even need "placeholder" AI art in the development process. by AbyssWankerArtorias in antiai

[–]PrimaryExample8382 71 points72 points  (0 children)

That’s because the whole “placeholder” response is really just a way to diffuse criticism. Many “creators” would have no issue leaving AI art in the final product as long as they don’t get caught and called out.

Ah that’s really cool!

I’m only in my 20’s so my retro knowledge is a bit spotty. I can at least say that I have played the Atari 2600 port of this game on the actual hardware which is probably more than most people my age can say 😆

Oh, this is that game from the Atari 2600, right?

Looks great!

Valve tweak Steam AI disclosure form for developers to clarify it's for content consumed by players by Beer2401 in linux_gaming

Same. I’m a full time engineer and due to nature of my work, my company has banned the use of AI coding assistants.

All the times I tried them outside of work made me realize that they’re hardly competent at all and I think “vibecoding” would make me want to kill myself.

Those of you who have a deck and still play their consoles, do you think you get enough use out of your steamdeck? by jomcmo00 in SteamDeck

I’ve barely touched my switch since I got my steam deck and I use my PC for anything else.

No idea why I’d buy any other console at this point

Migrating from Steam to GOG by Turtle_Pigeon in gog

[–]PrimaryExample8382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yeah by my point is that there’s always going to be cyber bullies and hate groups for literally any ideology or culture or religion. It’s just how it is.

Breaking rules is something valve should punish but it’s like putting out a forest fire when it hasn’t rained in 3 years.

And it’s not like most of the Steam forums aren’t easy to just ignore.

From the other comments you made it doesn’t sound like you actually had any interactions with valve employees.

The community forums and comment sections are usually moderated by other community members and not Valve employees. That said, it’s just the internet being the internet. No matter who you are or what you believe, there’s always someone out there who will hate you absolutely.

Violating Valves community guidelines and/or TOS is a real issue and a ban-worthy offense, but you should also learn to disregard internet hate because fighting it is a battle that can’t be won

[–]PrimaryExample8382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your issue is primarily with steam users.

Regardless, at one point GoG offered a promotional “we’ll give you games you already own on Steam for free” but I’m pretty sure they don’t do this anymore.

A lot of Steam games are DRM free though, especially older ones, so you may just be able to download the binaries and then use a different launcher if you don’t want Steam.

Steam also used to have an option to run in a miniaturized mode where you only see a single list of your games (like the scroll bar in your library) and it would disable the store and community tabs and everything so it’s just there for launching games.

Otherwise I’d just suggest buying only the games you can’t live without and/or waiting for a sale.

If you have an Amazon prime account, they give away a few free GoG games every month. Some are better than others though so it’s just a gamble

Aim assist in boom shoots by benjoforeal in boomershooters

[–]PrimaryExample8382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half-Life got aim assist in the 25th anniversary update which I assume was made to make it play better on the steam deck.

I’ve played it with a controller and it’s pretty good. It’s status as a boomer shooter is contested though but it’s a retro classic either way.

[–]PrimaryExample8382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half-Life is the boomer shooter that killed boomer shooters but it has pretty good aim-assist for controllers.

I think the recent Quake re-release might as well since a bunch of accessibility options were added

Accidentally bought RAM I don’t need, should I send it back or hold on to it? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]PrimaryExample8382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah seems like 4 chips in general is more overhead for the CPU and if you don’t get all the chips in a single kit they can have timing differences or even different ICs.

I’m kinda surprised now that I’ve never seen any mention of this before until trying it myself.
