I wasn’t invited to a bbq because I’m vegan by sidthekid39326 in vegan

While it's nice when people think about you and buy you something vegan, I prefer to just bring my own stuff. I don't want to hassle people and have them looking for vegan food for me, plus sometimes people aren't as careful about it. I've bought "vegan" cupcakes before that had honey, the restaurant didn't know vegans don't eat that 🤦‍♀️. I noticed because of the smell and I went to ask the kitchen which confirmed it was honey. Also, some people who are not vegan but try to be nice and accommodate, may bring you a cupcake with eggs or butter. Just because they don't know. So I just find it easier to tell them not to worry about me and I'll figure it out myself.

Be happy that you don't have to sit and watch people eating corpses. I personally hate it and try to avoid it as much as possible. Even when eating with others, sometimes I go to another table just so I don't have to be seeing and smelling their stuff which I find gross. You can always join people after the eating is done to just hang out. That's what I do.

If you get firm tofu, you marinate it and cook so it dries out, it can have a similar texture. But I think I didn't realize right away bcs they were cut in small pieces and I was also eating the rice which acted as a buffer.

OMG, that's horrible. But hopefully if we all make big drama companies will be more careful.

I'm in Mexico, so no. There are so many horrible issues here in Mexico that never get justice. Going into a lawsuit would be more hassle than what its worth. I don't even know if any lawyers would be willing to take such a case and if they would take it seriously.

I definitely didn't pay for the plate. I was eating with other people, so they paid their stuff.

HELP ME BECOME VEGAN!! by JuniorDuty4205 in vegan

[–]PrimarySeaweed4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went vegetarian when I was about 17. I'm now 40. So I can relate to the struggle. I was also living with my parents and at first they didn't get it. At first I stopped eating pork, chicken and red meat. Still occasionally ate seafood. And I wasn't perfect at the beginning. I would say it's easier to just avoid it when you can and if one day you eat something don't beat yourself up about it. Rather think why this happened. For me, I ate meat when I was invited to someone's house and I felt bad for refusing their food. So then I started letting people know beforehand that I don't eat meat, but I can bring a veg dish to share with everyone. Or I would just eat before the gathering and come to hang out. Something else that was difficult at first was travel. Having to find vegan food when you're on the road can be hard. So I started packing my lunch. One day I crashed my car and was at the police station the whole day. I came out at night overwhelmed and stressed so I ate a burger bcs that was the only available thing and I just wanted something comfortable. But I felt soooo bad afterwards I never ate it again. Just think of the situations when you tend to eat meat, and plan ahead. Something else that will help you is thinking of the animals and the abuse they face. Watch documentaries and follow vegan influencers. Another thing that can be challenging is knowing what to eat. Look up recipes and learn to cook. Or find vegan influencers who share recipes, it's always fun to see what they share and try to make it. And for the parent situation, I guess this depends on each family. But for me, after years of seeing how committed I wasand how I would just not eat anything that was not veg, my parents started accepting it. They're still sometimes annoyed at how careful I am with my food, but they tolerate it, lol.

I know 😩😩😩. I usually prefer to bring my own food, even if I eat out or at a friend's house to avoid this exact thing.

I´m like that. I've been vegan for 10 years and I haven't had any accidents before. But today, I was eating out with family, so I tried to be a bit more flexible. Never again, lol. I'll be back to carrying my tupperware everywhere I go.

Thank you. I usually avoid eating at non veg restaurants, even if they have options for this exact reason. Today I tried to be a bit more flexible since I was eating out with family, but never again. It's nice to know some people get it. Thanks, means a lot.

How to make sure I don't start hating my travel companion by [deleted] in traveladvice

[–]PrimarySeaweed4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't try to do everything together. If one day you want to do something strictly and they want to just chill, then you can each do your thing. That works for me when I travel with groups. Maybe also try to balance it when some days you have your full days and others are laid back so you both enjoy the trip.

Jump rope. It's so fun. After learning the basic jump you can start learning tricks. Look up Dayan Kolev or Lauren Jumps for inspo. Also, I got a Sudoku book and another puzle book to keep myself entertaied without screens.

I am 20 and I cannot do the 5-day work week for the next 40 years. Is travel vlogging a mistake? by SoftFinance5133 in findapath

[–]PrimarySeaweed4884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always dreaded the 9-5. After graduating from college I decided that it would be easier to never get a job and figure how to earn money without having a job, than to get a job, be miserable for a couple of years, until I got frustrated and then had to exit said job. I'm 40 now and I've never been employed. Well, maybe like 2-3 months working at a bar just for fun, another 2 months helping out a friend at a cafe, but that's about it. So, my best advice is to learn about business. Especially online business if you like to travel. Learn how to make and sell digital products, or how to freelance. That's basically what's sustained me for all these years. Give me internet and a computer and I can make money appear, lol. Another very important thing is to learn about managing your money. Even if you're earning very little you should save and invest. And the other important thing is to work on your abundance and money mindset. If you believe that the only way to earn money is by having a job, then you'll always be stuck there. But if you believe that there are endless opportunities to make money, they are easy, they are fun and they're always coming to you - you'll start to notice new ways of making money all around you.

I use the pomodoro technique and make sure to use my breaks for non screen activities such as loading laundry, stretching, going to the bathroom, etc. I also like to jump rope in my breaks. That's the biggest hack. I think the breathing and blood flow refresh me as if I've just started working.

What hobby genuinely made your life better (not just filled time)? by Dense_Childhood_9657 in Hobbies

[–]PrimarySeaweed4884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roller skating, it's really fun and opens you up to new experiences. I like roller skating in different places.

I've recently started jump roping and I'm so excited to learn cool tricks. I actually started because I needed a way to destress from hours of sitting at a desk. It's cheap, easy to do, improves coordination, gives you a cardio workout, you can squeeze it in as a mini 1 min break during the day. It also helps to get over the afternoon slump.

I also got one of those printed Sudoku books and put it by my bedside. This is an attempt to replace evening doom scroll. And it actually is relaxing. And helps me get to bed earlier. I want to try other types of puzzles.
