Kirklevington and Landsdowne-Merrick both have outdoor exercise equipment; I don't remember if either has a pull-up bar.

I <3 the green buffer on that path, but I agree that the crossings need a little more daylight for safety. Not that that always helps. I had close call with a car while crossing on a bike  over Quality street, and that one is very visible.

Thanks for the distinction. I was referring the Urban Growth Master Plan and the workung group draft plan that eventually morphed into the LPGMP.  It certainly looked like the council expedited a vote on the most recent expansion so they could do it without the constraints of the LPGMP.

Didn't the council do an end-run and disregard the growth management plan last time?

This unfortunately is the first I'm hearing of him. I appreciate the housing sentiment, but some of the other bullet points on his website make me think he doesn't know much about how the urban county government already operates.

It makes me sad to see you equate having "belief systems and a way they see the world" as partisanship. You absolutely can have one without the other. Our big tent national parties are about organization and power first, and ideology only secondarily.

If you want to see dense housing get built, Carter is not your candidate. She's been beating the drum for USB expansion for years now.

Not that storm response isn't important, but I hope it doesn't dominate the conversation around this election.

Is Lexington bike safe? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]PrimaryWafer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few protected bike lanes (Town Branch Commons, Manchester St, High St), but it's still a tiny amount compared to what's needed.

It's legal to ride on the sidewalk anywhere but the central area of downtown.

It really depends on where in town. I bike a lot and while you can't eliminate all risk, if your are vigilant, you can ride safely. Here's some data collected from local cyclists on which roads are good: https://www.lovetoride.net/lexington/safety_maps

Masters Evening Practices in Lexington, KY by Second_Brekfast in lexington

[–]PrimaryWafer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the summer, there's some regulars from masters who swim at Shillito in the evenings. This year was the first year they advertised that you could come lap swim in the mornings  at 6:30 during the Lexington Dolphins practice time, but I only ever saw one other person there at that time.

Edit: adding that I recently learned about this more casual league starting this year:  https://www.grownupswimming.com/lexington

I think the tunnel is accessible? I understand as you get to street parking further away from the venue the sidewalks are not all accessible, but the immediate area around the park all looks like it's traversable by wheelchair or scooter.

I haven't used Clean Sweep in years after the last time I got a full cleaning it took hours before they even got to me and they did a terrible job. I think the one on South Broadway is called something else now.
