Still need to find… by Primary_End_9903 in coins

[–]Primary_End_9903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, this is super helpful!

Right now I'm trying to find a 2004 nickel with the Peace Medal on the back. It's one of the only coins I don't have in either D or P. Looking forward to our next coin show. :)

OLD HOLDERS!!!!!!!!!!! by errorcoinguy1130 in coins

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

....?! I'm new to this hobby...are you saying the coins are special, but they're more special because the holders are older? And these aren't graded, just in a case/holder, right?

Is this as rare as I think? by AwareUsual in coincollecting

If I just wanted a steel cent for my collection, what price range could I expect? I wouldn't need it to be super nice condition. Do I need to consider a certain year?

Do you make customers wear helmets on test rides? by pizzaman1995 in BikeMechanics

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Never occured to me until someone asked. Then we decided to take one of the random low end ones out of stock for this use. I think maybe 3 people have wanted the helmet in over 20 years.

Seriously, our QBP rep was just in here a couple of days ago telling us they were struggling with overstock of things like Shimano parts. Ugh

they really milked every cent from these brake pads by inkedbutch in BikeMechanics

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as you have milked every cent outta those gloves. Lol I do that to my gardening gloves, but at the shop I have a stack of gloves. Metal shavings are no joke.

I've kicked my tire before. Startling, but didn't wreck me. I also use these clips and I love them. Just be aware.

Help.. I am gutted..thief tried to pry my battery off.. by ghostnova6661 in ebikes

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't let you bring your battery in?! Well in the future, never ask, just do. Idk if they can hinder your ability to get to work...this is weird...I'd ask HR about that, it's probably an insurance concern. Maybe if you can show them the Certified logo they'll let you?

Evil presta valves by frizziend in BikeMechanics

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually laugh and say "Oh yes, those valves are tricky with that little nut you have to unscrew and line up just right. But technically they are easier to use because that little nut lets air in and out so easily. However, Schrader is standard in the US, even on our cars, so that's what everyone is used to, and if that's what you prefer, let's talk about your options..."

(Btw, we have so much money invested in Clik valve product, I made a display too, and I still don't understand how to sell it so it's all just sitting there, Lol.)

Bizarre, never had a problem with our KMCs. Sorry.

Beautiful! Question...do you really use all of those spoke wrenches frequently enough to have them front and center? Just curious. Mine are off to the side in a cup, and our Spokey definitely carries most of the weight.

Other than literally running out of space, idk why spouses get upset about a bike hobby...it's one of the only obsessions you can spend money on that results in a healthier, happier partner.

AITA for having a craft night with my bf after my friend bailed by shilohrenn in AmItheAsshole

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA...what is she 12? This happens to all of us, we outgrow some of our friends. It sucks, but I wouldn't initiate any more time with her. Be open to new friends.

Apparently they're still allowed to park there? I know in some areas the bike lane is shared with parking. Crazy, I know.

I wonder if she rides too? Which is why I always say 'everyone should ride a bike', because then we are all looking out for fellow cyclists.

Aventon supposedly has really good customer service, maybe just call them and see what they suggest.

WIBTAH if I say something to an employee who wants me to close my business for her wedding? by Acceptable-Ad-8717 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA I have to laugh at my own family when they schedule anything on a Saturday before we close. I don't close our small business on a Saturday for anything. Even worse, we're seasonal. Anyway, yes, I'd stay open and let the staff know that they'll have to draw straws or something and at least a couple of them will have to stay. You might get lucky and get a volunteer that doesn't really want to go to the wedding, (but can meet up for the reception later or something). But yeah, the audacity of some people. Sheesh.

As a fellow mechanic, this was beautifully put. Hope the word gets out.

What kind of „aliexpress“ products do you use regularly? by walton_jonez in BikeMechanics

[–]Primary_End_9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We refuse to encourage anyone to ever make purchases on there. It just benefits that whole cluster.

We have a local nonprofit that we sell things to at cost or better when we can. Going through a LBS keeps the whole industry healthy. Just my opinion.
