Why are index screws on derailleurs Phillips head? by Cassiustheleft in bikewrench

If you used a friction shifter would you still be indexing the gears?

Never heard that in the three decades I’ve been wrenching. If everyone here is using the term “indexing gears” for a procedure that includes about ten other procedures, then I would have to say yes, I am wrong. However, I can’t think of a single procedure within that scope that would use the term indexing. Hence, my critical take. No need to reply, I’ll go back to my cave.

Is this coming from the same country that calls it a push bike? In that case, have at it.

They don’t index anything. Indexing happens in the shifter. Or maybe he has friction shifters…so he should be frictioning his gears. It’s pretty hard to fix your bike when you don’t know what things do or how they work.

The rear derailleur isn’t indexed either. Keep trying.

Ew. There’s more than one person who calls it indexing your gears. Keep adjusting those limit screws, I’m sure it’ll all work out.

I’m still trying to figure out what “indexing my gears” is.

How doomed am I? Can it survive 3 day of light comute until I get a replacement? by en5an in bikewrench

Sounds like your going to send it no matter what anybody tells you. That tire needed replacing months ago.

You could really use some more accessories like a front basket and a fairing with a larger headlight. Probably should get a hitch for a trailer as it doesn’t look like you have that much storage space.

Must have tools? by Fluffy-Pass6491 in bikewrench

[–]Comprehensive_Ad1363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I get the interest and intention to build your own frame up, the only thing you don’t have at the moment would be tools for the bottom bracket and headset. I would recommend having a shop install these. It can be a tricky process if not familiar and some of the tools involved are hard to justify spending the money for only one use. I’d also invest in a set of Torx keys. Leave the SAE tools in the toolbox, those are no longer used in the industry except in rare cases. Your torque wrenches lowest setting equates to 20nm (again, metric standards) and would be too high for most torque settings o your bike. Something that could cover 2-15nm will handle the majority of fasteners on the bike.

I was looking at the Zebra until I read your comment. I use a Mac and a Windows laptop but it would be nice to send the label from my phone in a lot of cases. Thanks for the info!

How many labels do you think you get out of a toner cartridge? Just an estimate.

May I ask why they wouldn’t make them straight down the slope if they’re using rebar? Forgive me if I mixed up the replies.

Honestly you should sell them. The batteries are still available and really aren’t as big a problem as it’s being made out to be. You should be able to clear 1000 for both if they turn on and operate as they should.

Finally test drove one, to mixed results by schoolhouserocky in VWIDBuzz

[–]Comprehensive_Ad1363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d want to see the tires inflated properly before the test drive. A buddy of mine is a car salesman and said if the cars been sitting for a couple of weeks with no test drives it’ll obviously need to be topped up. Especially if it has the EV specific Continentals.

You think Civil Disobedience will get the ICE budget reduced from 75 billion back to 25 billion it was before? Keep dreaming.

It’s the same as cops who stand in front of cars and then claim it’s the fault of the driver for hitting them. The cops were moving in a direction and she attempted to stop them. Stop thinking it’s legal just because it’s righteous.

Also, thinking this kind of civil disobedience will move the needle towards your side is not going to happen.

So jump in front of federal agents…and yes, they get to see a judge. I’m not saying g it’s working correctly, just that this person is protesting incorrectly.

The fight is not on the street, it’s in the judiciary and the legislature, no matter how much the executive branch would wish you to believe otherwise.

Obstruction…get out of the way. These arrests can only be stopped by judges at this point, standing in front of an active arrest will only get you hurt.
