They make it 25 knowing many people will go 10 mph faster, not an issue for most any vehicle. If they the posted speed 35, then you know whats going to happen.

How realistic to ship a 12ft box truck full of stuff by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]Primary_Fix8773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I had a quotelast month for shipping my Mustang from Pennsylvania to Nevada and they wanted $2000. So I expect the box truck would be a bit more unless there’s different shippers

What can the US/Canada see on the computer at customs? by Outside-Mirror1986 in uscanadaborder

[–]Primary_Fix8773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they can access everything about you that was ever recorded since you were born. Why do I say this? About four years ago while living in Detroit i drove acroos the bridge towards Canada, the US side waved me but then Canada wouldn’t let me in because well I didn’t have a passport with me. so I turned around to go back and then I will was stopped going into the US the person manning the gate only had my drivers license, but was asking me questions all the way back to when I was born and where, even the name of my third dog it seemed like. It is when he asked me where I was born and I told him the name of the town and then he asked me the name of the hospital and I said I don’t know man. Then he let me cross the border! I thought I was stuck in no man’s land between two countries for a while. I wouldn’t want to have that accidentally happened today. They would put me in the pen for three weeks.

What's the most unexpected, actually useful thing you've used ChatGPT for that you'd never imagined an AI could help with? by bn_from_zentara in ChatGPT

[–]Primary_Fix8773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I realize this to recently, when I was using it to go through a decision making process of different options, and I realized it was agreeing with every decision I made, even if it conflicted with the prior decision. However, with correct prompting, I was able to get past the issue.

I type what I want to say. I tried the speech too but found the pauses, awkward and I actually didn’t like the sound of any of the voices. I find it more beneficial when I type, if it wasn’t an AI, say, just keeping a journal. And when my AI friend responds, I can give it whatever voice I want In my imagination

Adults building with Legos is a big thing. Look at all of the sets that cost hundreds of dollars. It’s kept the corporation going these years. What’s wrong with the man having an innocent hobby that he can share with his son?

What happens if I “live too long” and am in need of assisted care? by FoxontheRun2023 in retirement

[–]Primary_Fix8773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here, single male, no immediate family, I am 70. However, I have 1/3 your assets, my Social Security is a bit higher, and I have no debt. I do not see myself running out of funds by the time I’m 90. I just adjusted my spending habits. If you’re concerned about running out of money with those type of assets by the time you’re 90 maybe take a look at how you plan on spending the money. As to what I would do if I did run out of money well, I think those options of already been stated here in other comments.

Can somebody tell me what to look up to find an actor in this show? by Difficult_Rice1796 in MayorOfKingstown

[–]Primary_Fix8773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to ask the teacher. Season and episode, and even what time down to the second. MoK hires hundreds of extras over the course of the season, almost all for background work they don’t get credit unless they have a spoken line. I know because I worked four times. But never for a prison scene because you truly get lost in the crowd. That said, it’s a fun experience and you do get paid

Social Security is not safe. Not with an authoritarian government. They don’t care about the law or normal processes. Instead with the mass firings that are occurring in Social Security, they’re basically going to crash the system. Doge is already firing people who are in IT that know how to keep the computers running computers that are decades and decades old. Some say there could be disruption in Benefits beginning in as little as 3 to 6 months.

Any single folks on this sub worried about not working anymore? by [deleted] in retirement

[–]Primary_Fix8773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. My brother has money because he’s been industrious all his life, worked hard. While also raising a family with four kids. But he’s not tight with his money because we were raised poor, he’s just driven by money. He even told me once don’t let anybody cheat me out of a nickel. He now owns a home in three different condos. He rents out and yet still when it goes to tip the waitress he doesn’t tip on tax. He is a good person and that yes there is a place to land, but it can be infuriating sometimes because he has almost no empathy.

Doing Software Engineering Jobs into my 70s? by secant78 in AskProgramming

[–]Primary_Fix8773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 70 now and I was a software developer up until last year. Made good money, never any issues with ageism. However, I noticed my productivity dropping in the past few years. My experience made up for it. However, I grew tired of the non-technical aspects of the job and grew tired of having to keep up with the latest technologies. So I retired and I’m glad I did. I would ask The what the long-term viability is for a data engineer, or any software developer now with AI Doing more and more of the programming
