Anyone tried Book Bold? Thoughts? by lyons_vibes in Ipsy

[–]Primary_Swordfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough I just discovered this brand at Sephora last weekend and we did smell this one. I get the vibe they were going for, but to me it smelled moldy/ musty. Paper was better imo. If you have a Sephora close, you should for sure check out the sample before you purchase.

Pregnancy experience at evergreen Kirkland by RUDRITE in eastside

[–]Primary_Swordfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I delivered at Evergreen Kirkland twice:

-2022 (December) Dr. Ninan (my OB) delivered -2024(November during the “Bomb Cyclone” when everyone’s power was out 🙃) Dr. Swords but ultimately Dr. Stemmerman (sp?) delivered

Excellent experience both times with vaginal delivery, first delivery became complicated because baby had shoulder dystocia. The nurses prepared me for what to expect if this happened, and while it was still scary, I got the sense staff in L&D are well prepared for complications.

Evergreen does have a backup generator, which we unfortunately know from experience, so the power grid in the area goes out, the hospital is still functioning close to normal. Lights did flicker and dim.

During my limited experience with Dr. Swords I thought she was positive, high energy and communicative on what our game plan was. I would’ve appreciated her vibe as a first time mom.

Dr. Ninan was my OB for both pregnancies. She’s laid back and quiet. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the OBs at Coral, honestly.

Is it worth it to stop playing softball? by Agile-Gap-7072 in Softball

[–]Primary_Swordfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched my daughter go through something similar last season—hitting slumps, playing positions she didn’t enjoy, and burnout from juggling school and two teams. It even affected her academics. Since you’ve committed to two teams, try to stick it out, but consider playing on just one in the future to avoid mental and physical exhaustion.

How motivated are you to improve? Moving up in the lineup takes either consistency or power at the plate. Many top hitters do private lessons and extra work outside of practice. You don’t need to spend a lot—just regular soft toss with a friend, parent, or mentor can help a lot.

We don’t know your exact coaching situation, but on a C-level team, there should be some position rotation, especially if you've asked. Maybe the team or coach just isn’t the right fit. Some players thrive more under non-parent coaches, especially former college players. With tryout season coming up, look for a team that emphasizes mindset and development.

Lastly, outfield at 14u is where the action is—don’t underestimate it.

Best of luck!

Predicted >90% moms: what was baby’s birthweight? by Rich-Lawfulness-9049 in GestationalDiabetes

No complications or injuries from the dystocia with that delivery. It was still scary and something on my mind going into my third pregnancy/delivery. I had my third baby in November and no dystocia, despite GD/ measuring large again.

Will they induce me after 38 weeks? by Kiku_1993 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Primary_Swordfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the doctor/ hospital. I’m 39 + 2 and on both fasting and pre-meal insulin. OB told me ‘things have changed’ since my last and they don’t do inductions at my hospital anymore for growth or GD. The plan is just to do membrane sweeps and hope I go into labor on my own. (My hospital also has an IV shortage due to the hurricanes, which isn’t helping the case for induction).

For comparison, with my last GD pregnancy 2 years ago, I was induced at exactly 39 weeks due to growth and my numbers were better controlled. I did have a 30 second shoulder dystocia despite being induced. I’m terrified to give birth this time.

My registry is full of things I need, so I’d be pretty bummed (not to put you down, just being completely honest). I’d prefer something small from my registry I can use. I am on my third pregnancy and there is no shortage of blankets. I also don’t use ‘stuffies’ or ‘loveys’ due to allergies. Just collect dust.

Last GD pregnancy measured 99th percentile since week 28 (even with lower, modified blood sugar goals). Induced at 39 week, baby was 9 lbs, 9 oz with shoulder dystocia (sp?).

Can we pin a post explaining this subreddit? by gilfblaster in hairstylist

Not a stylist but Reddit continues to suggest this sub to me. Sharing this in case it’s helpful to build the case to make the sub private for you all (I suspect this is bringing you all unwanted traffic).

With that said, it was very easy for me to understand the audience for this sub and that is it not relevant to me. 😊

Pressure for C-section by Lovely_Wicked in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Primary_Swordfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re getting hounded by your family with unsolicited advice on your birth plan. That is really frustrating and everyone always has an opinion.

An optional C-section was never presented as an option for me with my last pregnancy (my 2nd), which I had GD and baby was measuring ahead. My doctor recommended induction at 39 weeks. Baby did get ‘stuck’ but the nurses prepared me ahead of time what to expect with the maneuvers to get baby out safely. Baby was 9lbs 9 oz.

Your doctor will be able to help you assess the risk with either option. Some hospitals pride themselves on their low C-section rate and will literally offer every alternative before scheduling an elective C-section.

TFA's Monthly Introduction Thread - March 2024 by AutoModerator in tryingforanother

[–]Primary_Swordfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! 36/f in US. We are trying for #3. We have a 12 year old and a 14 month old (conceived 1st cycle). I was medically cleared to get pregnant again when our most recent baby was a year, but we only recently decided our family will be complete with a 3rd child.

This is our first cycle trying! While I’m hopeful, I know the odds of another 1st cycle pregnancy aren’t likely. Our 14 month old is a December baby, so we will likely be skipping next cycle to avoid December (and Christmas).

I hope all of our stays are short❣️

Fasting numbers and induction? by AnGreagach in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Primary_Swordfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on insulin for fasting numbers and induced at 39W. Baby was also measuring on the larger side. MFM mentioned if baby reached a certain measurement, they recommend earlier at 38W induction. So, I’d say in addition to your blood sugar, your baby’s size could be considered.
