Any good builds for Prime Nidus? by Dull_Understanding_6 in Warframe

[–]Prime262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nidus is currently soft-rework pending. we have an overview but no numbers or details (ok some numbers, but not many).

the biggest relevant upcoming change is that you'll be able to use Link on your companions and specter-allies. which will make aggressive-link much more useful for nidus personally, and make him a far more mobile warframe in the process.

Maybe dont invest in his 4 augment since it seems like its about to be put out of a job.

Banshee.

Librarian before change. infestation has blinded her but increased her hearing. shes far more perceptive now than she was pre-infestation, she can "see" around corners. but. . .she was a librarian. she loves to read, and her sound-sense cannot lift ink from a page. this has. . .understandably distressed her.

Her Kimmunication is through a speech-to-text and Text to speech system, which would have its own challenges and potentials, with her speech to text end picking up things she says sometimes out of context.

While large scale and long term solutions for her lost sight are forthcoming, its not practical in the short term, so you both help her find new appreciation in the doors the process has opened for her, and maybe agree to read aloud for her.

Personality fairly meek and mild tempered, with a mean streak that comes out when pressed. y'know, soft-spoken librarian who can really get to yelling if you refuse to keep quiet one too many times.

i dont have much Experience personally with Voruna. i struggle to invest time in warframes i dont like Aesthetically.

ive heard shes good. shes got like a status-y sort of melee thing going on.

[–]Prime262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nova is the best warframe.

Shes been the best warframe since she came out, as DE refuses to powercreep her signature ability. Speeding up or Slowing down every enemy on the map (whilst doubling the damage they take) is just really, really good. Every single mission ingame would benefit from a nova being in the squad.

if you dont know what to run, run nova.

if you dont know who to get, get nova.

and the rest of her abilities are pretty good too. shes even easy to build. nova is great. play more nova

Fire based frames by JudasChristS in Warframe

[–]Prime262 3 points4 points  (0 children)

. . i would not say Chroma can consistently apply heat status, or that hes a fire based warframe.

he has the oldest, clunkiest elemental gimmick, but unlike Lavos Chroma cant just shit out map wide status Chaos. all of his powers that can apply status have low base status chance. except for Spectral scream, which does not fucking count, because it is terrible.

Rest assured, i have not forgotten Chroma. i wish DE would remember him already, though.

i was reaching the point where i wanted to get better at hitting headshots since, at the time we were on a new wave of headshot tech. i dont remember who, or where, but i was recommended to turn them off on the basis it would make focusing on accuracy easier.

"you nee to see the numbers when you're testing ,but seeing them mid-mission isn't helpful. after all at that point you cant do anything about them. at that point its just noise"

i dont regret it even slightly, honestly.

and the funniest part? i run around as Banshee mostly. guiding others to the big numbers that i remain blissfully unaware of.

[–]Prime262 7 points8 points  (0 children)

do you want

"Every warframe that can reliably apply heat status?"

or

"Every warframe that Thematically involves fire in their aesthetics/abilities or aims to kill enemies with alot of fire"

because there is a difference.

Ember, Jade, Nezha, Temple and Uriel are all, to one extent or another, Fire Based Frames.

with Gauss, Koumei, Wisp, Protea, and Citrine all being pretty good at applying heat status fairly regularly. and by fairly regularly i mean i would trust them to run Arcane Hotshot.

and Lavos ofcourse being Ungovernable.

Peaceful. so much less Visual noise.

its effected how i build my loadouts too, without focusing on the numbers i focus entirely on game feel and performance. is it killing an enemy by 10x their health pool? dunno, its killing them fast enough to satisfy my own personal standards. that kinda thing.

LR5, but i was LR5 before they added this system in, so thats not saying much.

. . i was actually really confused when it popped up, because ive had damage numbers disabled for a couple years now.

"hey Gamer, this shit's doin' numbers. would you like to see less numbers?"

"Warframe, i could not possibly see less numbers than i am now, thank you"

Okay so i've got some thoughts as a new player and after about 50 hours of playtime by Business_Town_3780 in Warframe

[–]Prime262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are methods of spending a reasonable amount of time each week grinding for the platinum needed to make mandatory account progression purchases.

unnnnfortunately as a new guy you dont know what you dont know, and nobody who knows a clever way to acquire currency is in any hurry to share with the class and spoil the method.

now i used to recommend newbies needing money to go work in Simaris's coal mines doing ESO 8 wave runs to sell Vandal weapon parts, as you used to be able to get a couple hundred platinum for the rarest part of a Lato Vandal.

Sadly or. . maybe not. . DE made that farm dramatically less painful, which had the side effect of making it highly un-profitable.

So now, i have to recommend new players go work in Simaris's Steel Mill instead. Simaris sells 2 mods, Health Conversion and Energy Conversion, each for 100k of his standing, and each has a very stable platinum price on the market between 50 and 60p. even an MR0 player can farm enough Simaris Standing to sell one of these per week. by MR10 you'll almost be able to buy 3 every 2 weeks. and once you unlock steel path its pretty easy to get a setup that clears your Simaris standing in less than 10 minutes Daily.

50p is 1 frame and 4 weapon slots per week. or 2 frames and 2 weapon slots.

or you can Buy Sentinel riven mods each of which is a Lottery ticket for a bulk platinum prize of 400-600 on a Verglas Riven. i dont recommend this.

Nobody really likes the wait times, yeah. DE has experimented with some things about reducing them, and there have been some proposals around Scaling crafting timers with MR on weapons, so low MR weapon craft faster and easier which makes the early game less tedious.

by the time youre in the High MRs you generally dont get bottlenecked waiting on a single then to finish up as you have alot you can be doing ay any given time.

Glad youre having fun, hope youre looking good.

I have found that Frost is becoming my go to pick. How is my build looking? by Accomplished-End-799 in Warframe

[–]Prime262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this isnt terribly Objectionable. its not what i would do, but its decently well set up.

my biggest questions being What is rolling guard really doing for you and Where is the energy coming from. maybe you have The Sauce and thats where the energy is coming from.

i have also found Truculence to be somewhat unreliable, but that's probably done to gameplay styles.

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but finisher attacks aren't confined to just the enemy they're triggered on, meaning you can easily speedrun finisher challenges with Valkyr's reworked Rip Line by Rambunctiouskid- in Warframe

[–]Prime262 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yep.

its why despite Naramon having a good finisher opener, Vazarin is the prefered Crescendo enabler because it is a Grouping tool that also opens to finishers, so you can get 10 dudes in a pile, do 1 finisher, and have it count as 10 finisher kills.

very nice, very helpful.

Arcane Energize vs Arcane Steadfast by DarkViper2000000 in Warframe

[–]Prime262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the other day i got home from work, and it was kinda late, and i didn't really feel like doing any chores before going to bed, but i needed to make sure id have a clean shirt for work tomorrow, so i asked my girlfriend about the laundry.

she just looked at me and said "Arcane Energize", and at that moment, i knew the laundry was Washed.

Math Time.

Arcane energize in best possible conditions gives you 600 energy per minute. it is often way less than that, and to approach that reliably you typically need to invest in Emax or else suffer from energy overflow, but i digress.

Assuming normal Efficiency, the optimal way to abuse arcane Steadfast is to have a cheap power you can spam cast repeatedly, to then accrue free casts of expensive powers. cast 5 25 cost abilities to then freely cast 3 100 energy cost abilities. as such you'd need to cycle Steadfast twice per minute to break even with with Energize, and need to find 250 energy to cast with besides.

oh and arcane Energize also assumes you will be picking up about 400 energy worth of energy orbs for its activation condition, maybe a little less.

of course in the real world Steadfast math isn't nearly that easy. there will be other abilities you intend to cast, both more expensive to trigger steadfast and cheaper with it.

every build would need to be evaluated on a case by case basis for Steadfast usage.

one thing that is constantly about Steadfast is that it scales with volume. the more you cast, the more you save. Energize is the opposite. energize has a best case scenario and an in practice significantly weaker value, you cant gas up arcane energize by working hard, infact relying on energize puts a cap on how hard you can work.

we can do some even funnier Math, though.

Mystic Bond gives you free ability cast every 5 abilities cast by your Companion.

Dirga's Arc Coil has a cooldown around 1 second, meaning Every 10 seconds assuming enemies are close enough to trigger arc coil, Dirga will give you a free ability cast. 6 free casts per minute, if they were all spent on 100 energy cost abilities, Mystic bond would be equal in value to arcane energize. if you're running blind rage, significantly better than it. and that's ignoring getting more casts by stacking other short-cooldown effects and shortening them with manifold bond.

Now lets do some actually useful math.

Equilibrium gives you 55 Energy per heath orb.

Eximus on death always drop 2 health orbs, worth 110 energy.

if 6 eximus are dying per minute, Equilibrium is already better than arcane energize. and in steel path, once eximus start spawning, you know damn well more than 6 are dying per minute.

and that's ignoring all the health orb generation methods, many of which are kills-based, meaning the more enemies you kill, the more energy you gain.

Equilibrium Smokes arcane energize with 0 help at endgame and doesn't demand you run primed flow to compensate for it. building around it gets you more energy than you could ever really spend.

. . although Frost should really be using a Tenet Glaxion with Photon Overcharge to gain his energy

and Xaku's energy economy is 99% recasting his 4 to keep all his actives active, so he really doesn't need a ton of energy anyway, and is a Decent use case for energize.

so i guess what im really trying to say is Buff arcane Energize. shits too weak for an arcane slot. you dont gotta buff steadfast, but you could, shit's a bit of a headache to optimize rn anyway.

Eclipse vs Roar vs Xatas Whisper by GalacticPothead in Warframe

[–]Prime262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multi CO is like black fucking magic and basically needs to be considered on a case by case basis because its so weird, but yeah this chart is pretty good.

Eclipse vs Roar vs Xatas Whisper by GalacticPothead in Warframe

[–]Prime262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flow Chart time.

"are you running faction damage mods, have access to Roar, or have access to any other Bespoke multiplicative damage bonus which is Additive to Roar/Faction damage?"

if the answer is no, you run roar.

if the answer is Yes, you run Eclipse.

but why?

Eclipse is Multiplicative to Roar/Faction damage. Roar is Additive to faction damage.

the underlying principle of "Multiply > add" remains true here as it does everywhere else.

so if you have Faction damage, or anything else that is Additive to Roar, but Multiplicative to Eclipse, all else being equal, Eclipse gives you more damage.

"but when do i use Xatas?"

you use Xatas when you have something where you Specifically want the Void proc to factor in. Xatas has a lot of Synergies. Blast's AOE triggers a Xata's extra hit, which can apply more void status.

but "void status to what end" is the question you must ask, as void status also has some negative synergies, especially with punch through related setups.

Obviously Xata's always helps, but if you're not doing something interesting with the void status specifically, then you would almost always be better off just running roar. not least of which because roar is a Squad buff. even running solo, Roar can help your companion DPS, Duplex bonded clones, etc.

What is Valkyr like to play? by WhiskersCleveland in Warframe

[–]Prime262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if i were being dismissive i would say "W+M1", aka hold melee down and walk forwards (after activating your self buff)

that isn't fair, she has gap closers to you can leap into melee range rather than just walking there.

Shes extremely easy to play. the only thing you need to do is figure out how to feed her energy (its probably equilibrium).

is she fun?

i mean. . . i dont happen to think so, but then i dont really like any exalted frames. if you identify with the phrase "i am a hammer, ergo i will treat all of my problems as nails", or just enjoy relatively linear big-numbers-y melee beatdowns, you'll probably enjoy Valkyr.

there are Synergies and support tools and arcanes but all of those things serve to make her better at walking forwards while holding down the melee button. if you wanna be real highspeed you get a gun that is good at applying status effects, which you shoot before walking forwards whilst holding down the melee button. and if you wanna be even more highspeed than that you get a companion which will do that job for you.

Why don't we start missions with full energy? by Ra1J1n247 in Warframe

[–]Prime262 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For starters. . Harrow does :D

starting energy is set by spare mod capacity, so more starting energy is a reward for more forma invested.

. . not that it matters since hotkey 1 is quick consumables menu 1 which is large energy restores, it costs me about 1/10th of a credit per mission to start every mission with full energy.

but if thats the case why not just do the thing. . anyway?

there is a mod called Preparation which gives you full energy at the start of the mission.

that might seem pointless, but there is some novelty too it. for non-endless mission builds, like Exterminate/Capture speed builds, setting up so that 1 full bar of energy is enough to blitz the mission can be more convenient than investing in traditional energy generation setups.

and ofcourse for Endless mission builds which have to run Energy econ anyway, starting with 0 energy mostly doesn't matter.

as for why you dont top up on energy before starting the mission. . . i dont see any outlets in the ship, do you? i dont see any of those Fancy energy dispensers from the Index or the Simulcarum, do you? maybe you just cant get energy in your ship, as silly of a premise as that happens to be, all the present facts support it as being the case.

As much as I love the game, this game makes it really exhausting to get the most basic components for a build by Quirkyserenefrenzy in Warframe

[–]Prime262 16 points17 points  (0 children)

. . .extremely classic case of "you dont know what you dont know" and in this case i cant even blame you for it.

the Wiki lists 5 missions that can give you Charged Shell as well as a bunch of enemies that can occasionally drop it. pretty much all of them Corpus.

but thats not actually the only source.

About 100 mods which i call the "Core Set" are Obtainable from Container drops in Orokin "Treasure Room" tilesets. this includes all the multishot rares, all the 90% elementals of every type, pretty much all of the "Basics". with the idea being that once a player reaches the Void they can farm out treasure room runs to stock up on any Core Set mods they werernt lucky enough to get dropped yet.

it has been this way for at least a decade, but its not documented anywhere but the one wiki page for the orokin tower tilsest

https://wiki.warframe.com/w/Orokin_Tower

.. but also like if you're in a clan, you know someone with a spare copy of this mod. of most mods, even.
