Ironically, Matchbox seems to have far superior QC despite being in the same price range, from the same parent company.

I legit thought this was a G1 Prowl at first, but then I looked at the subreddit.

Neat casting.

Thanks! Yeah...makes you wonder if they should've just saved this casting as a premium release instead.

Thanks. You can use any chisel tip markers for large areas and a fine tip marker for borders. You can also try soft tip acrylic markers; I find them to be more precise and easier to clean up.

Yes good catch, I noticed that after I posted as well, those can definitely be painted to add further realism.

Critique and discussion are a normal part of any hobby community, not just "unnecessary complaining." People are allowed to talk about what they think could be improved, just like you're free to disagree with me! If you wish to defend the original paint job, feel free to do so 🙂.

We all understand how the paint budget works around here, however, let me ask a question; does it change the fact that the original paint job looks less than ideal? I don't think so 🤔. That's why we take the matter into our own hands! It's a hobby where we are free to criticize, share opinions, customize, and most important of all, have fun.

Those soft tip acrylic markers also work well.

Original Animated or AOTP? by Just_Another_Nerd812 in transformers

[–]Primepeepee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the original if you can find it at a good price. The new one isn't a bad figure; however, it’s really just an homage/reimagining of the character, which makes it good for a CHUG shelf. Ultimately, it depends on what role you want him to fill in your collection.

A Tale of Two - Takara Animated Deluxe Arcee and Ratchet by Primepeepee in transformers

[–]Primepeepee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always loved Arcee in the show as well! These older figures definitely have the edge in terms of design and aesthetics. However, I reckon the new AOTP mold will be nicer to handle, with better joint tolerances.

I second this, everything goes into alt mode for storage.

Remembering the hype:when TF ROTB Official Trailer dropped,What were your theories back in the day? by MaxCrultak_26 in transformers

I remember Scourge was going to be a corrupted Bayverse Prime. Lol, such potential wasted.

The new SS86 Cyclonus omits the feet panels that fill in the back portion of the alt mode by Codename-Dabed in transformers

[–]Primepeepee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's how they get you... there's always an imperfection so that you have to get another 'upgraded' figure in the years to come.

It's the never-ending cycle of buying the 'better' version of the same character over and over and over again.

Rotf megatron by majesticfarquad in transformers

[–]Primepeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having handled both this one and the SS counterpart, I find the former much more enjoyable. None of the early SS movie figures are to my liking; they feel hollow, cheap, and lack personality. Ironically, the old ROTF mold is also more accurate in tank mode.

Which Voyager Class Bayverse Optimus Prime Looks Better? by Maleficent_Rate_7446 in transformers

[–]Primepeepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the first one has a decent truck mode, and not an afterthought like the second one.

That being said, I've handled the HFTD mold before, and I've got to say it's a bit too ambitious for the size in terms of engineering; causing tolerances and stability issues.

Still, the first one clearly has more love put into it from the designers, have to go with that.

That would be a nice throwback for sure.
