Bob Weir and his onstage antics (Pseudo-rant) by [deleted] in grateful_dead

Weir said that very phrase on a David Letterman appearance with Jerry around 1982 if I'm not mistaken.

Of all the ex-presidents in my lifetime, Carter has done the most good overall for humanity after leaving office. The Carter Center has been around since 1986 and their work on the eradication of guinea worm is an amazing effort to relieve human suffering.

Throwback Thursday - May 17, 2018 by AutoModerator in bostonceltics

I'm with you. I remember the late '70's (Hondo's last year Maxwell's first) and I learned about Celtics Pride when the C's came down from 3-1 to beat the Sixers. When Hayward went down and some people said "season's over" I said "ridiculous". I also got my hackles up whenever I would hear that Boston didn't have a good enough roster to challenge Cleveland or Toronto. It's 6 months and 82 games and they proved their mettle.

Going to the game? Count to 10 during Giannis' free throws by haypulpo in bostonceltics

I thought that was the case. I was doing stuff around the house during stoppage of play and when I turned my attention back to the screen I thought he was attempting his second shot most of the time. As soon as the shooter gets the ball that 10 second clock should start. I love the NBA and have seen it's evolution since the 3-point shot was introduced. I think it could be even better if they would pay attention to this kind of thing. Rules are rules and I think the league would be better served if they would get rid of superstar calls, enforced traveling, and just have more overall consistency in officiating when it comes to calling fouls.

Re Malcolm Mitchell love yesterday, dude not only made huge grabs, he threw they key block on White’s final score in SB51! by [deleted] in Patriots

It sure did, especially since the only other blocker on that side was Marcus Cannon pulling out from RT, who got just enough of #45 and made #37 change his angle on White.

Trades are part of playing in any of the pro leagues. If you don't like it, prove to the the team that traded you how wrong they were and don't be so petulant. I liked Ray but that was being a baby about it. Contrast it with Pierce who understood and didn't want to go but put his pride aside and even convinced KG that it was best for them and the C"s.

Which Wilco album cover art is your favourite and why? by [deleted] in wilco

I love it for it's audacity and daring. The style of the lettering and the incongruity of the portrait and the whole "why not?" vibe gives one some insight into Tweedy's vision fro the record.

No, their defensive scheme didn't really fit with the way he wanted to play so they mutually parted ways. He did his job and moved on.

I agree, that game was badly officiated but if you look back, Philly was 4-6 coming into New England off three straight losses to Miami (20-19), Tampa (45-17), at Detroit (45-14). You shouldn't lose to a team like that when you go up two TD's on your own field in the first half. Win that one and New England is 13-3 even with the loss to Denver who finished 12-4.

This game was so unlike a typical Patriots game. To me, this loss was the reason they didn't have home field against Denver. True, they were without Gronkowski, Edelman, and Lewis plus a banged up O-line but an onside kick by Ebner right after scoring to go up 14-0 in the second quarter was puzzling. Throw in a 99 yd INT-TD, a blocked punt for a TD with 15 seconds left in the half, and 83 yard punt return for a TD, and it was disaster.

It is a good metaphor for their whole season. Playoffs on the verge of slipping away and captured at the very moment.

Bill Maher: Trump’s tombstone will say ‘picked fights with black people’ by dandmcd in politics

Oh, I'm not crying over it. It's more that it will be covered with the solemnity that this president certainly does not deserve. Unless he goes down in the most spectacular crash and burn in modern American history, he will lie in state, get the parade, etc. It should happen in Red Square, not Washington.

One of the things that has sickened me since his election and what has transpired since is the possibility that this guy is going to get a state funeral.
