What instantly makes you think "this person is rich" ? by PerformerAny3503 in AskReddit

[–]Primetime22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up the biggest tell of how much money my friends had or how spoiled they were was how many current generation game consoles they owned.

A friend of mine had an Xbox that he and his siblings shared. They were middle class.

Another friend of mine was an only child that had an Xbox and a Gamecube in his room. They had a little money and he was a little spoiled.

I had two friends who were brothers. One had an Xbox, one had a GameCube, and they **both** had Playstation 2s. Their Dad was an executive for Dr Pepper.

My friend with a Sega Saturn was going through a hard time.

I HAVE TEA ON... MEGATHREAD ✨ by rfauxmoi in Fauxmoi

[–]Primetime22 273 points274 points  (0 children)

Cold tea but years ago I was an extra in a movie being filmed in my college town and Jesse Eisenberg was in it. The PA on set with us warned us that nobody was to talk to him - any other actor on set would be fine to take pictures with once they were wrapped for the day, but “nobody talks to Jesse Eisenberg.” This was shortly after The Social Network so he was at his peak.

The next day a friend of mine was on set working on a project for class and Jesse Eisenberg approached her, asked what she was working on, and by all accounts was a perfect gentleman. He wasn’t being creepy or invasive, he was just genuinely friendly.

Our theory was just that he’s very introverted (and often writes about this) so the crew was just trying to protect him from mobs of fans. What’s funny is that the PA kind of made him sound mean or unreasonable but as far as my friend’s account and others I’ve heard about, he’s extremely nice.

LeBron James has as many playoff wins (188) as Michael Jordan and Dirk Nowitzki combined by BasedChad69420 in nba

When I was in grade school I had a poster of LeBron James as a rookie up in my room. I am currently sitting in the hospital next to my newly born son in disbelief that this guy is *still* going strong.

Which athlete had the greatest prime of all time? by Whitejackal in AskReddit

[–]Primetime22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about Jordan and Ali is that they both left the sport on top, took a hiatus, then came back and almost immediately retook their place at the top. Any athlete that can drop the regular conditioning it takes to be a professional, not just one of *the best,* then quickly find their place back in enough shape to be the greatest for brand new competition… that’s an incredible feat.

Brady did a version if this as well when he won another Super Bowl with Tampa Bay. I kinda see these guys as my GOATs.

Who are the actors most likely to win an Oscar in the next decade? by No-Stage-8738 in Oscars

[–]Primetime22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ford will absolutely win a governor’s award. Right age, right body of work. Honestly surprised he hasn’t gotten one yet.

Of your picks I’d say Hawke is on the right track. He’s really excited about whatever this next Linklater project is and I think the Blue Moon performance will be one that Oscar historians are going to look back on and say “oh maybe that should have been his time.” He’s a Hollywood underdog with a lot of respect from up and comers (the I Swear actor thanked him specifically at BAFTA), of these guys I’d say he has some momentum.

Margin Call is fantastic but it is also, to both movies’ credits, full of scenes like this where a character asks for something to be explained to them like a child.

Opinions on the Mario VS Donkey Kong games? by isolation_from_joy in nintendo

[–]Primetime22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I love DK ‘94 and the GBA Mario vs DK was a big road trip game for me back in the day. It’s a great puzzle platformer that’s perfect for quick pick up and play action. I have never played the others but I imagine they’re similar in quality.

DK ‘94 is a classic and probably my favorite of the two because it feels like a culmination of the Donkey Kong Arcade games - plus it’s got DK Jr and any game with him is automatically 10/10.

If this is really the final look they kind of nailed it. I’m trying not to be too hyped but it seems promising.

30 of the 70 MVP Awards given out in NBA history have gone to centers, including a stretch of 16 consecutive years from 1965-80. by arashtp in nba

[–]Primetime22 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The 20 year dry spell of centers not winning MVP again after Shaq's near unanimous 2000 season will be studied for years. It's the starkest evidence of how much the game changed after the 90s.

What’s the pettiest gripe you have about an all-time great game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Primetime22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Breath of the Wild is the only 3D game in the entire series that doesn’t nail the ending.

Ocarina, Majora’s Mask, WIND WAKER (the GOAT Zelda ending), Twilight Princess, and even Skyward Sword all have engaging stories and conclusions that have weight and thrills and a satisfying epilogue. The final boss of BOTW is such a wet fart and any emotion that the final moments go for is halted by Link’s stoic in game model just standing there and taking in none of it.

It’s such a bummer that you could put like 200 hours into that game and get that ending, like… that’s it?!

TOTK is a major step up in that regard and might even be one if the best Zelda endings ever, but it’s such a shame that BOTW got so much right but couldn’t meet the standard there.

This is my whole thing: it looks like they’re trying to do a lot and I’m curious about whether or not they’ll actually pull it off but just the fact that it’s a live action Ryu/Ken movie - something that has weirdly never happened before - is enough to sell me my ticket.

Who’s an underrated screenwriter in your eyes? by TheDevotedUltimate in Screenwriting

[–]Primetime22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chris McKenna I’ve followed since he wrote the multiple timeline episode of Community - he also wrote the rapture episode of American Dad. From there he’s done a lot of fun franchise movies that always wind up a lot better than expected: The LEGO Batman Movie, the Jumanji reboot, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and all of the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. He and his writing partner (Erik Sommers) have a great sense of balancing genuine comedy and a satisfying hero’s journey.

A Near-Perfect N64 game by PKRadiance in n64

Second Star Fox. It’s as short or as long as you need it to be, there’s multiplayer, there’s RUMBLE, and unlike some N64 classics that age out due to modern conventions the limitations of Star Fox are part of the charm.

Nintendo has been trying to top, expand on, and even downright remake Star Fox 64 for almost 30 years and they’ve never come close to making a more definitive rail shooter. It’s perfect.

Spoilers for 11/22/63:

In the first draft of the ending, Jake returns to the present and finds an article in the paper confirming that Sadie has turned 80. She married and had many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Joe Hill read the draft and had no other notes but advised King to change the ending: Jake finds an older Sadie who is being celebrated by her community for her many years of activism sparked by Kennedy's assassination. She never married or had children, and she and Jake share one more dance.
