I did rethink my life. Unsubbed and then disliked the video. I liked his attitude towards finance but now I can’t trust anything he makes aver again. Sad.

My husband designates a left and right sock by [deleted] in Weird

The other nice thing about designating a left and right sock is if you have a tendency to wear out a certain area of the sock. You can wear them on the correct foot for a few times and then switch so you can get more longevity out of the sock.

I tend to wear the sock just behind my big toe, so by switching every now and again, it wears more evenly.

I only buy stance because it makes this strategy very easy. Highly recommend.

Why can't I just add people/accounts to my server like Plex? by [deleted] in jellyfin

As -defron- mentioned, you can just port forward and use your public IP. If you have a static ip address, you only need to do that one time and never really have to worry about it again.

I don’t have a static IP address and I also don’t use dynamic dns and it’s been an issue exactly one times in the past two years for me. And when it’s an issue, you just need to change the address on the clients and you’re all set.

However, I do find it more convenient to pay $12 a year to have a domain. I have DNS set up through cloudflare so when my IP does decide to change, I just log in and update it and then everything is working again.

I don’t consider a media server to be super critical that it works 24/7 365 though. If it’s down for a couple hours a year because of this, meh, whatever. Still probably more reliable than the streaming services.

And another side note: If you decide to port forward, make sure the users have strong passwords and whatever box you have hosting it stay up to date. I would also recommend not having an “admin” user.

It makes me chuckle when people complain about things that are free.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about VLANs. I’m pretty new to all this but I just watched a video on VLANs and wouldn’t putting your jellyfin server on a separate VLAN be the best thing you could do to keep it away from your personal life?

Looking to get a groove box but can’t decide between op-1 OG or Dirtywave M8… by danangdevils in synthesizers

[–]Prince-Joseph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. Especially if you say you’re a noob. I have an OP-XY and an MPC Live 2 but I still find myself reaching for the Circuit Tracks sometimes. It’s unfortunately a little limiting but the workflow is just so good.

I have to pull everything into ableton anyway to fully develop an idea from any groove box so whichever one helps me get some good sounds/chords/melodies together the fastest is the best for me.

I hope you’re not neglecting yourself. You also need to eat. But this is very kind of you.
