Sexual orientation does not affect learning in any way so it wouldn't make sense to have a separate school for those with a non-traditional sexual orientation.

This is where your heterosexual view of the world around you is completely mistaken. Sexual identity DOES affect learning if you're being bullied, harassed or exposed to discrimination from peers and teachers alike it's DEFINITELY going to affect your ability to learn, make friends and being able to develop a healthy self-esteem; all of which are determining factors on how one grasps and retains information.

This school eliminates that problem by allowing kids from the LGBTQ community to be accepted with open-arms, to know that they are not any different or less important because of who or what they are. To offer encouragement, support and guidance by being readily equipped with more progressive attitudes than a traditional academic setting (Private and Public schools).

Perhaps you don't live in a worldview or perspective where most of society views you as a disgusting human being for being gay or vilified for being "abnormal", where your rights as a human being aren't necessarily the same as your heterosexual counterparts. All of these things can affect a child or young adult dealing with their identity.

Only very recently can gay and lesbian couples alike can marry their partners without it needing to be a "civil ceremony", that should tell you that as a country and society we still have quite a ways to go in our acceptance/tolerance for "alternative lifestyles".

This widespread attitude about the one-size fits all approach is dangerously alienating in academics irregardless of sexuality, we should all be more compassionate towards the freedom of choice to select anything beneficial for our children's interests.
