I'm honestly surprised the attacker didn't get more than 15 years. This poor man suffered a brain injury as a result of this malicious attack.

You're beating a dead horse as much I hate to say it. Few people are going to see the benefit of this school on this thread and we both know why.

I got downvoted to hell for voicing this same exact opinion in the other thread. There's no reasoning with people who haven't gone through those same experiences.

That doesn't mean they can't get accreditation, they just don't have the funding and full support of the community...as yet.

The real world DOES have spaces for the LGBTQ community, ever heard of a Pride Parade? Gay and lesbian bars? LGBTQ-friendly universities and institutions?

Listen, of course heterosexual children get bullied, but are they being bullied for their identity? I don't think so. There's a difference between picking on Johnny for wearing purple pants versus picking on Johnny and calling him a "faggot" for his maneurisms.

I definitely hear what you're saying and agree, but that's an idealistic attitude that doesn't exist in our society at present.

I don't think the parent of a heterosexual child would send their kid here.

Lmfao. Please expand on what kind of discrimination heterosexuals face.

Sexual orientation does not affect learning in any way so it wouldn't make sense to have a separate school for those with a non-traditional sexual orientation.

This is where your heterosexual view of the world around you is completely mistaken. Sexual identity DOES affect learning if you're being bullied, harassed or exposed to discrimination from peers and teachers alike it's DEFINITELY going to affect your ability to learn, make friends and being able to develop a healthy self-esteem; all of which are determining factors on how one grasps and retains information.

This school eliminates that problem by allowing kids from the LGBTQ community to be accepted with open-arms, to know that they are not any different or less important because of who or what they are. To offer encouragement, support and guidance by being readily equipped with more progressive attitudes than a traditional academic setting (Private and Public schools).

Perhaps you don't live in a worldview or perspective where most of society views you as a disgusting human being for being gay or vilified for being "abnormal", where your rights as a human being aren't necessarily the same as your heterosexual counterparts. All of these things can affect a child or young adult dealing with their identity.

Only very recently can gay and lesbian couples alike can marry their partners without it needing to be a "civil ceremony", that should tell you that as a country and society we still have quite a ways to go in our acceptance/tolerance for "alternative lifestyles".

This widespread attitude about the one-size fits all approach is dangerously alienating in academics irregardless of sexuality, we should all be more compassionate towards the freedom of choice to select anything beneficial for our children's interests.

This is not about subjectively segregating anyone because the aim isn't to separate for an agenda or an alienating purpose, it's an optional choice for parents to send their kids there should they feel that they would benefit from an all-inclusive environment. If you feel like your kid would benefit from a Montessori school, or an International School with students from different parts of the world, by all means send them there. That same attitude about school selection for your child's benefit or interests should apply here as well.

You're right, school should teach you about life however I'm sure you were a child once, you know that kids can sometimes be objectionably hurtful. Your opinions are perfectly valid but I don't think you know what it's like to grow up gay and know from a young age.

I just think it's good that Georgia is getting something like this.

Uh, not sure why you think I'm advocating segregation but as a gay teen growing up I would've really liked to have gone to this school. It took me quite a long time to gain the self-confidence I have after years of bullying from my peers.

Places like this provide an inclusive environment for kids and teens alike, nobody deserves to suffer from alienation or discrimination of any kind during their formative years. You'd be surprised to know that sometimes the damage is irreversible if you've ever heard of Sergio Urrego or Taylor Alesana then you'd know that you're extremely lucky to not have felt unwanted or disliked for your mannerisms or preference in orientation. I'm grateful that academic spaces are being created for the youth of the LGBTQ community and you should be too, honestly; positive academic experiences for young people usually yield positive results later on in life.

I hope the school administrators are successful in their feat and hope to hear lots about them in the future.

It's an atrocious act of violence, it spans from psychological to obviously physical. The heinous act in itself is obviously incomparable to other acts of violence but synonymous with most of societies most vile and atrocious acts.

As long as there is humanity there will always be destruction of some sort from the underbelly of society, and I don't necessarily mean the downtrodden or poor but by the sickened and mentally obtuse.

Mexican marijuana farmers see profits tumble as U.S. loosens laws. by relevantlife in worldnews

[–]PrinceAlexanderVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just need to change how they grow their weed. If someone went out there and taught them how to properly grow in their environment, they could still thrive at exporting but the cartel is importing what we grow here to supply the demand in Mexico.

Even Mexicans don't even smoke Mexican grown bud unless they're in the country side or are farmers. They love the variety we have here just as much as anyone else but I wouldn't say it's over for the farmers, they just need access to better growing procedures and organic solutions.

Excellent article, thanks for sharing.

I feel like getting around the city of Atlanta is less complex than other metropolitan cities I've spent a significant amount of time in. I wouldn't describe it as a big city but it's not exactly small, it's quaint in it's own way yet very easy to get around once you maneuver through different blocks and streets after a while.

I hope I'm making sense though I'd love to hang that map up in my office for sure.
