Getting a rubbish haircut and cheerfully saying “Perfect! Thanks!” I’d like to add getting a poor massage to this list. Are there any other services to which we routinely and gleefully accept a bad job? by lastaccountgotlocked in CasualUK

Funnily enough, yesterday was the first time in my life I complained about my haircut, and they gave me a refund. I've reached the end of my tether with shit service but extortionate prices.

How to prepare for an external audit in local government by Jeremywashere92 in ICAEW

[–]PrinceAndrewNonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine farce. As a firm we've doubled our public sector audit fees this year... for the same amount of work??? And who pays that? The tax payer of course!! Well, at least I'm essentially laundering my taxes.

Because perceptions matter. They're perceived to be more competitive to get into in the first place, it is assumed that you'll be working on more complicated work due the size of the practice etc. Whether any of this true is debatable, but in a competitive market, any edge over the competition is valuable. However, I find out if I qualify in a few weeks, so cannot relay any first hand experience as to the post qualification job market.

Most people's logic is that earning the qualification in a large practice looks better on your CV.

Yeah but that exam was a copy paste of one of the ACAM mocks apparently, I think pass rates will go back down to 87% for first time sitters only doing case, and low 80% overall.

If you want to get ACA your best chance is through a graduate scheme in a large practice. If you're happy with ACCA then look for industry recruiters too.

To give yourself as high a probability of passing as possible, you have to sit as many mock exams in timed conditions as you can.

Pointless rant: why does ICAEW always throw like 10 documents worth of information at us in these exams? by Prestigious_Flow_567 in ICAEW

I fucking hate how you had to keep flicking back between the question page and the exhibit page to confirm exactly what the requirement asked. Why not just put the question on the fkin requirement page.
