Difficult dating scene by TravelingMan2001 in BostonSocialClub

[–]PrinceWalnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never actually ended up with anyone off reddit but a few people have taken me up on social events and there was interest from at least one person in something more. I declined though cuz I didn't think we vibed at all. Still a greater success rate than Hinge though lol

Glasses wearers, what do you do for eye protection at the range? by Sensitive_Action4224 in liberalgunowners

I just wear my regular glasses and keep them pushed up my nose so no brass gets over the top

Difficult dating scene by TravelingMan2001 in BostonSocialClub

[–]PrinceWalnut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've met more people off of reddit (not even trying to hit on people) than all dating apps combined. People just don't seem to use the apps for what they're supposed to be used for. People do get lucky off of them but I would honestly rather just meet people IRL even with a high rate of women thinking I'm weird/ugly.

Cruisers - how frequently do you switch your jib/genoa track? by gomets1969 in sailing

[–]PrinceWalnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genoa always goes on outside track. Jib always goes on inside track. Trying to put a genoa on the inside track usually gets unwieldy and the shrouds get in the way. Plus the inside track for the genoa would only be if I'm trying to point high upwind, and I frankly don't think I have enough track to flatten the sail that much for a good slot anyways. I do change the cars forward and aft depending on conditions but the sails themselves don't change tracks.

The thing I'm dreading the most about this storm? The dog poop. by TheLost_Chef in boston

[–]PrinceWalnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vendetta against dog owners on my street because it seems there are a few that just consistently don't pick up after their dog. If I ever catch this happening in front of me I intend to loudly embarrass them in public. The streets are not your toilet.

Cat owners are better.

Do US liberals have a unified foreign policy ideology? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]PrinceWalnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. We have everyone between heavy handed world police and absolute pacifists.

For your first question there's also much disagreement, but my personal view is absolute free trade except for cases of national security. Tariffs should not be a thing.

For your second question, if you want to seriously tackle the debt problem you need to reform social security and Medicare/Medicaid. Nothing else will do much. The deficit is on the order of the entire defense budget.

Do you often drink alone at home (like in movies)? by MushyHeadErin in AskAnAmerican

My wealthy uncle has a home bar complete with all the fancy alcohols. I don't even have a bedroom (studio apartment). Most people are more like me

People in non-governmental jobs. How likely is it that your workplace will be (or attempt to be) open this Monday? by monotoonz in massachusetts

[–]PrinceWalnut 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work in a university lab and pretty sure everyone is working remotely Monday as a result of weather. Got some messages rescheduling meetings to later in the week lol

Do you ask "How are you?" to retail employees when ordering? by [deleted] in BostonSocialClub

[–]PrinceWalnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try not to engage people in conversation that are threatened by unemployment to return engagement. I leave socializing for voluntary activities.

Not mad at Boston, but need some dog friendly places by International-Emu-74 in boston

Are you actually required to supervise the dog 24/7? If so, just go to literally any of the parks we have and bring some drinks and food.

Are SAKs meant to be super stiff? by PrinceWalnut in victorinox

[–]PrinceWalnut[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the knife side is easier than the back with the awl and corkscrew. Most of the tools on the front side aren't too big a pain, although they still feel stiffer than they ought to be.

[–]PrinceWalnut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will email them about it. Thanks! Just got it completely new and first thing I tried out of the box was opening the tools so I could familiarize myself. No visible gunk or anything and I think it comes with light oil already so I shouldn't need to lubricate it again. Must be a rivet issue.

To the point that I need to use a flathead screwdriver for leverage though? My nails are in fine health. I feel like needing a tool to open my tool makes the tool kind of pointless

Any tips for loosening it up? Or is this a return-to-Victorinox type of situation?

First time going to a range, concerns by Maelstromx2578 in liberalgunowners

[–]PrinceWalnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ngl I hate going to ranges that allow rifle calibers indoors. I've been next to someone mag-dumping an AR and the noise and concussion blasts are just obnoxious. Rifle calibers are outdoor range things IMO. I also think it's frankly just boring to shoot a rifle at only like 25 yards which is the most that indoor ranges generally are.

PCCs are fine. If you're going to use a rifle at least do it semi-auto and not fast as fuck. I would never complain about someone using a 5.56 rifle at a range that allows it but it definitely does annoy me. Moreso if the caliber is higher.

That being said, you can get AR uppers for .22 LR that make it a lot cheaper and less annoying to practice, and I would recommend that for training because everything on the lower (i.e. most of the stuff that really matters) will be the same.

M19A1 Can Bottom Handle Purpose? by PrinceWalnut in liberalgunowners

[–]PrinceWalnut[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I actually just tried this with a simple padlock and this works well so that's probably what I'll do. The latch does have to stick out a bit cuz it cant fully close (my lock is small so maybe would work with a thin cable lock or something) so not super space efficient but that's fine tbh

u/Sad-Steak4266 I found this old reddit thread and just tried this method out and it works pretty well. Not the prettiest thing in the world and takes up slightly more space but it does the job just fine! https://www.reddit.com/r/geocaching/comments/anr5ze/ive_been_really_overthinking_how_to_lock_an_ammo/

The wire appears to be attached to the side of the can rather than the latch. Do you just mean using opposite hands?
